Haaswerk

Wookiee 90

After looking at a couple of the successful Director Haas decks, I decided to put together a deck that focused on getting her out and getting her working.

Originally, I included Self-Destruct as a way to take her out before she could be stolen. I've since been convinced that her 5 trash cost, combined with the hassle and cost of her guardians (Ash and/or Caprice) plus whatever it costs to get in to her server makes her just as valuable being trashed as being captured. NAPD is generally regarded as the pinnacle of self-protecting agendas that aren't named Future Perfect. Director Haas costs 1 one, for the same agenda benefit.

All the agendas are 2 points, including Haas, which means that a runner is going to have to take 4 of 13 (effective) agendas to win no matter what. When half of those (NAPD+Haas) cost 4-5 credits simply to score, it becomes a tough life for the runner. Ideally, Vitruvius will be at least double advanced to ensure that Ash can go straight back in play after he's served his purpose.

Once Haas is installed, ABT and Vitruvius can be scored from hand using her extra click. If not, a scoring server that has Ash + a couple nasty Ice (ideally Sagittarius in front of Tollbooth or Enigma) should allow you to score things out as required. Money is reasonably important to the deck, but primarily the intention is be at or near the runner's credits. If they're poor, you can afford to go to low credits (keeping in mind Stimhacks and Lucky Finds exist) to score out an agenda or rez a nasty Ice. If they're rolling in money, you need to be sure you can rez Ash and/or Caprice, and then succeed in the trace-4, OR make sure that the money they spend to take 2 agenda points leaves them at a point where they can't get the next couple agendas.

Ice suite is picked to have some of my favorite counterpicks (Wraparound and Lotus Field), a reasonable amount of program destruction in Sagittarius and Rototurret (Sagittarius should probably only be rezzed if you can afford to spend at least 5 on the trace, to ensure program destruction, and Roto is best thought of as a one-shot, given the prevalence of Parasite), and then highly taxing Ice (Tollbooth, Eli, Architect, Viper).

Daily Business Show and Jackson Howard should help ensure you get the types of cards you want at the times you want them, and keep Caprice and Ash ever-present. BLC is a nice card+money boost. Eve and Adonis are ideally installed in a server that is reasonably protected, and often go in the server that's prepped for Director Haas before she goes in. But even if installed naked, the swing of trashing them behind even a single Ice probably means you came out ahead.
