It's Lockdown #13, All Events Got Canceled! (3-1 in Swiss)

This is Az McCaffrey: Maximum Prompt Rock, and he just got his tools back from his shirtless uncle.

[Imagine your favorite Geist gif here.]

He's got both a Reaver-shop and a Tech Trader engine to get you rolling. On top of that, you got a lot of hardware and programs to fire Prognostic Q-Loop consistently every turn (corp and runner) without even knowing the top card of the stack, charging those Technical Writers and drawing even more with Masterwork (v37).

It started out as a cute little idea for Lockdown #13, building an actually playable deck without any events, and ended up in a pretty good spot. It only lost one game in Swiss (due to me being extremely bad at Psi games, and ... Odol being really good at them), but got lucky in all of the others.

After playing I'd consider more damage protection, because you'll be arriving at a stack consisting of only Boomerangs pretty quickly. I could have easily died to Complete Image, SEA Source + Scorched Earth etc. The Buffer Drive and Flip Switches help a bit, but you actually have to keep them around and not use them for aggressive face checking.

Some notes for playing this:

  • Setting up, trigger Prognostic Q-Loop with clicks left in your turn if you don't plan to run, to be able to draw one of the 12 resources that would otherwise prevent you from using it on the corp's turn. As long as you have more than 2 or 3 credits, trigger it at the end of the corp's turn as well. The chance that you can install whatever you reveal is really high, you get Az's discount and probably draw an additional card from Masterwork (v37). Even consider overinstalling Prognostic Q-Loop etc.: That is still a clickless filtered draw with The Class Act for 1 or 2 credits and helps you get rid of those dead cards in your stack.
  • The Self-modifying Code is mostly for finding Reaver, the occasional Grappling Hook, and is good food for Aesop's Pawnshop.
  • Use the Spy Camera on the corp's turn to trigger Reaver additional times.
  • In the early game, sell your The Class Acts to Aesop's Pawnshop and install another copy to speed up your card draw. You need to get e3 Feedback Implants down ASAP.

Shoutout to my opponents Jamil, Odol, Deus Mortis and longi, who made playing in this tournament a real pleasure, and thanks to Vesper for organizing and streaming this great event!
