Runners on your mark….
This deck is designed to put the runner in the drivers seat quickly (as it concerns scoring) and not letting up until its too late. We skip the Account Siphons (Yea, I said it!) and use the fear of their potential presence to our advantage and hammer R&D with indexing for early points. Cheap breakers combo'd with Datasuckers plus Inside Jobs and Feint get us into centrals and remotes that might house an agenda. Multiple runs using Doppleganger and Early Bird afford us the click advantage we need to play a Notoriety, or two, or three. Same Old Things keep our run events working.
We want to move quickly and therefore we want cheap everything - allowing us to click an Armitage twice when we are low and then make things happen. Very Important - no card in this deck costs more than 3 to put into play - that equals speed! Armitage, Kati J, Easy Mark, and Dirty Laundry for economy with Public Sympathy to get your hand size large enough to plan your next major attack and protect you from at least the single sea source/scorch. True, it's a risky build, but it plays at the pace Ken wants to play - breakneck!
Get set….
As far as tweaks go, the lone Recon could easily be a second Legwork to hit HQ, or another Planned Attack to increase the odds of getting the early Indexing. (As HQ will get locked up quickly, you might also consider the opposite as Recon isn't bad against Jinteki) Public Sympathy could become Plascretes (which is still only 3 credits) if you wish to mitigate some risk and other changes could be made but those two are the ones that stick out.
As just a little something extra… Here's an account of something that could happen. Same Old Thing and Doppleganger are on the table - one Notoriety is in the trash. You Early Bird into an open archive central server gaining you a free run via Doppleganger - you opt to run a twice iced R&D. Tollbooth, Damn! (You knew you could break the Ice Wall behind it, but the corp loses 8 credits) You soldier on. Turn 1 - Inside Job R&D - break the Ice Wall - access - Hedge Fund, "put it back" - counter on Datasucker. Turn 2 - Feint on a twice iced HQ - no stopping that - successful run - counter on Datasucker. Turns 3 and 4 - Same Old Thing - Notoriety. One point closer to victory! Credits spent: 5, Nice! (or 8 if you count the Tollbooth). Not bad at all!
Go….

Good point! Power Shutdown is a solid counter for cheap breakers. My suggestion would be to use Public Sympathy to hold your backup breaker and/or a special order in hand in the event you original is shutdown. Also, Datasuckers and Fairies (albeit less so) are good for soaking up a Power Shutdown. And this may just be my opinion, but its my experience that the more points the runner has scored - the less likely the corp is to Power Shutdown. |
Two words . . . Power Shutdown!
