I've tried a few different runners in Cache Refresh including Edward Kim: Humanity's Hammer and even Apex: Invasive Predator.
In this tournament we could change our deck between rounds as long as we didn't change our identity or the big box we were using, so I've included all the cards here that I used throughout the tournament as I gradually evolved the deck. I never actually started a game with more than 48 cards, and had 45 in the last two rounds.
I thought shaper had most of their good tech available plus some new solid cards in Terminal Directive. Given that I'm most experienced running Criminal decks, I was looking for a more generic shaper setup with fewer moving parts than Ele "Smoke" Scovak: Cynosure of the Net. The first few iterations I had 9 breakers and no Dhegdheer, but even with LLDS I was running into MU issues so I added the 2x Dhegdheer. Also with the late addition of Ubax for more card draw (props to enkoder for both suggestions), I thought I needed more and added Laguna Velasco District which helped out in a few games.
Influence is mostly spent on Stimhack Aaron Marrón and one of my favorite cards Tapwrm. I swapped a second Tapwrm for a second Aaron Marrón since shapers can go get programs more easily than resources in most situations. In the semifinals, Tapwrm made me 6-8 credits a turn for most of game 1, and caused my opponent to purge 5 times in game 2 as I protected it with Sacrificial Construct then brought it back with Clone Chip (although I still managed to lose that game). That's a heck of a lot of work for one card.
After the first couple rounds I trimmed it down by removing the LLDS Memory Diamond and most of the breaker redundancy. I also took out the Bloo Moose which I would consider putting back in having seen many other players use it to much success, and I tend to be short on cash.
The biggest shortcoming in this deck from my perspective is the lack of HQ multiaccess. The best solutions in this format are probably either The Gauntlet or just Maw which is really HQ multiaccess via the archives, but was absolutely my least favorite console to play against.
Thanks to the fighting walloon for organizing the tournament, and the whole SF Rude Crew (including east bay and north bay folks) for tons of support and encouragement. One highlight was the live stream of the quarterfinal match by CTZ and Brian Cronin ( https://twitch.tv/sansanfranciso and https://www.youtube.com/user/TheJacksonHoward ). Thanks especially to Kodie (enkoder), Weston Odom, and Adam Cabrera for deckbuilding and gameplay feedback at the start of the tournament and along the way.
<3 for getting it down to 53 cards and then "meh, good enough"
Classic Shaper move.
