If an Asteroid Belt has 4 hosted advancement counters, how much does it cost to rez it during a run made with Tread Lightly?

It would cost 0. To determine what a cost is when effects are modifying its value, start with the default value for that cost (Asteroid Belt’s printed rez cost is 9), apply each effect that increases the cost (Tread Lightly adds 3), and then apply each effect that lowers the cost (Asteroid Belt’s ability subtracts 3 for each hosted advancement counter).

    9 + 3 – (3 ✕ 4) = 12 – 12 = 0.

Reviews

Iconic cyberpunk art, showing that drones and robots are the security of the future.

This card is comparable to Leave No Trace, punishing the corp for rezzing an ice for that run. But it is, in my opinion, much better.

First, it can make ice unrezzable just by econ pressure. Paying 11 for Tollbooth or Anansi is insane. But it is punish also corp with low cost ices (like Vanilla or Tithe), costing them an additional 3 for each.

Second, it cost only one influence! Making this card useful in every faction. Using this with Reina Roja: Freedom Fighter is a must for fantastic econ pressure or free run.

Anytime you can make a value run, this card is useful, like running HQ with Docklands Pass or running an heavily iced remote, containing an agenda. Otherwise, the corp will usually just not rez the ice, as it would do if you were using Leave No Trace.

If you want to add insult to injury, you can use Xanadu and Hernando Cortez with it, and put an insane premium on rezzing any ices. A Fairchild 3.0 would thus cost 13!

The advice in the quote is the real deal, and a good advice to boot. The art is fun and the card is just plain good. Great design.

This comment's a good three years late, but the art probably pictures Surveyors!
