So it turns out I am something of a corporate tool; I recently realised that I have basically played almost nothing but Corp for... well, I forget even how long this has been going on. I know that of my last 20 games, only 4 were Runner. My Runner game is severely lacking, and I need to sort this out.
So, getting back on the horse. I've gone with Chaos Theory: Wünderkind because I played a few games when she came out and have never done so again. Also, her smaller deck size and + seemed to synergise well with a plan that I had in mind.
Why Chaos Theory?
I wanted a fast start. The rough plan is facechecking, using Astrolabe and Collective Consciousness to get -free draws, and Ice Analyzer and Aesop's Pawnshop to get -free money.
Datasucker and Parasite are there to keep the runs cheap. Medium and Nerve Agent are for multi-access.
Chaos Theory works well, I feel, partially because of the smaller deck size and draw amounts, and partially for the increased which allows you to run Collective Consciousness with only a fraction of the usual strain.
All about the money...
Unless I'm running things like Kati Jones or Magnum Opus, I'm never quite sure how much economy to put in.
This deck is fuelled by the ever-popular Aesop's Pawnshop; you can trash the Ice Analyzers and Collective Consciousness when you've scoped out enough of their ICE, and Sahasraras help install everything before becoming yet more Pawnshop fodder.
Kati Jones is to provide some longer-term stability.
Programs
Since I'm not yet sure how well this money plan will work out, I need to try and keep costs low as possible. There are only two things in the deck with a cost of over 3; Yog.0, and Atman (probably). I've gone with a fixed-breaker + Datasucker system to try and keep breaking costs low.
Deus X and Sharpshooter for emergencies when facechecking.
The low costs of the programs should mean that the small amounts I get from Ice Analyzer should be enough to install most things for next to nothing, and Sahasrara can take up a lot of the slack. Both can feed the Aesop's Pawnshop later in the game.
Collective Consciousness is great as a card draw engine in the early-mid game, but it is let down by its high cost. Less of an issue in Chaos Theory, allowing you to cheerfully milk it for 4-6 cards in many games before you need to trash it to make space. It can, of couorse, then be used to feed the Aesop's Pawnshop.
I've gone for Medium and Nerve Agent over the Interfaces because of the synergy with all the program-helpers I have in the deck (Ice Analyzer, Self-modifying Code, Clone Chip, Sahasrara).
Paricia is a godsend for those times when there's important things to trash; even if it only manages one trash before being fed to the Pawnshop, that's still a 5 profit, in a way.
Other Stuff
Astrolabe is brilliant, and you should try and get it out as soon as humanely possible. Diesel is burst card draw, obviously. Plascrete Carapace is there because you really can't afford not to have it. Akamatsu Mem Chip are cheap that can later be fed to Aesop's Pawnshop if I free up some space.
Considerations?
I wish I had room for a Levy AR Lab Access, but I cannot see what to drop.
It might be more efficient to switch to a Personal Workshop based system rather than a Sahasrara based one; it would make it easier to install things like R&D Interface, which would save me some influence and .
Getting a third Datasucker in there could only help matters.
Thanks for reading! It's only a first effort, and largely untested, so even more so than usual, Comments, criticisms and suggestions are welcome!
