Yes, 0 cards.
Why?
Emptied Mind - extra click
Cradle - Needed for affordable code gate breaking
The ID - econ
Guinea Pig - econ
Severnius Stim Implant - decent multi access run
Other Cards
Stim Dealer - why settle for 5 clicks a turn when you can have more
Aesop's Pawnshop - to trash stim dealer if you have to. Several other cards work well with it like hunting grounds or if you ran out of use for a card like
Guru Davinder - since there are no cards in hand this is a steep but necessary defense tool. Just hope you don't go against any net damage decks.
Citadel Sanctuary - for the same reason
Earthrise Hotel - card draw that doesn't interfere with abilities
DJ Fenris - 3 main options. econ- Ele "Smoke" Scovak: Cynosure of the Net or Los: Data Hijacker If you need recursion then Steve Cambridge: Master Grifter
The rest of the cards are mostly econ or recursion. Not sure if I will keep hot pursuit. Also breaking sentries with MK Ultra is painfully expensive.

Heartbeat is an interesting include. It's pretty good but if you take a lot of damage you won't be able to keep up by trashing your rig. The deck would still do poorly against Jinteki due to the abundance of net damage. I think the Guru works better against larger One hit Kill strategies, so games can be decided at matchup. Basically, the influence seems like a lot for games against one faction in a matchup that would still be very difficult to win. Turning Wheel- that would be a nice include. |
I've experimented with a similar deck, and I've found Heartbeat to be a pretty good card for protecting you from damage when you're at 0 cards in hand – instead of paying 4 to cancel all damage from a single source, you pay 2 per point of damage by trashing MKUltra, which is more efficient against net damage and not much worse against other damage sources. (Note that when playing this style of deck, it's typically correct to install as many MKUltras as possible from the heap when encountering a sentry, not just one of them.)
The main problem with the deck concept is that Whistleblower seems to be necessary to not auto-lose to Obokata Protocol, and Whistleblower is such a bad card that being forced to run it seriously hurts the deck.
The Turning Wheel is also very good in this style of deck – it gives you both a win condition, and a pretty good use for all those spare clicks.
