Losecons - Shaper [Crown of Servers, Worlds 2024]

Three of the Colorado Netrunner minds of all time teamed up this year to prove that the competitive groupthink is wrong. To that end, we assembled three runner decks and three corp decks dedicated to winning with Jeitinho and Superdeep Borehole, respectively. Then we descended upon San Francisco as the Losecons and showed everyone how wrong they were.

My Crown of Servers corp deck

This deck is extremely single-minded - 🗡 Early, 🗡 Often. Don't have a 🗡 in hand? Draw more cards. Is it an off-turn? Make money, install icebreakers, and get ready for the next 🗡.

I was actually pleasantly surprised that this deck turned far better than I expected. Tao's small deck size helps find the 🗡s faster and his ability helps keep the central servers soft. Sadly, the deck didn't get any wins on the day but consistently came really close. I still feel that this deck is (slightly) compelling in spite of its record as it generally has really good tempo. Unfortunately, sometimes the 🗡s simply are at the bottom of the deck and you don't have The Wizard’s Chest to help out.

Round 1 - vs. World's Worst Throuple. I was paired up against RotomAppliance. So, you know.

Round 2 - vs. Make MoM Proud. Sadly, I forgot to ask if they were all running Meeting of Minds, though I really hope they were. Another loss for the deck.

Round 3 - Bye! On the board with a win! Damn I'm good.

Round 4 - vs. Send the Run. Another loss for the deck.

Round 5 - vs. Alien Joke. We were down at the lowest table and I had a blast! These guys were extremely fun to talk to and play with. This game was going extremely well - the corp was on game point but I had two 🗡s out and was extremely well set up for a third. However, it was during this game that I learned that 1) Transport Monopoly exists and 2) can be scored. I completely forgot it was on the table when I went to make my game-winning run and the corp managed to score out for the win. Womp womp.

Main takeaway: 🗡 is pretty strong and people just need to git gud.
