Speed Titan

vesper 236

AKA: Trying To Make Weyland Relevant Yet Again, Vol. 23918

Card choices with explanation:

Agendas:

GFI - you will rarely score it, but if you can, go for it; it's mostly to decrease agenda density

HT - triggers Archer; boosts your money; the Bad Pub may ruin your game against a bad matchup (cough Blackmail Valencia cough), so watch out

OR - makes you money, taunts the Runner, scores out beautifully with 8 credits and 2 Biotics in hand (just try it ;-))

PA - the obvious one for Titan, for obvious reasons - score out with Biotic or on its own; if you've got two scored with both tokens intact, the game is almost yours

UR - another 'taunt the Runner' bit, can be useful to get rid of a few pesky cards; shame it's so random, but let them taste some Noise, Corp-style ;-); also triggers Archers, so don't hesitate to use it for that, if necessary

Assets:

JH - Our Lord and Saviour; enough said

PS - slow-motion mini-NAPDs that don't give Runners any points; useless against Whizzard, but you should have the money to waste on them anyway; trigger Archers, so they're good in more ways than one

Upgrades:

CVS - anti-Clot, anti-Medium, anti-whatevervirusistheflavourofthemonth

Operations:

AN - possibly to be exchanged for something more useful (Restructure?); no idea if they work with Public Support - will be scrapped if they don't; otherwise, great for tutoring Biotics when you score Hostile Takeover and have a click left

BR - pick-me-up from 0 to 3; would be Green Level Access, but the influence is tight in this one

BL - use them for Oaktown Renovation (needs 2 in hand and 8 creds), Project Atlas (1 in hand and 7 creds) or GFI (...joking, you won't pull that one off ;-)) (well it's only 17 creds, 3 Biotics in hand AND GFI, too - so good luck to you!)

Freelancer - a singleton against DLR shenanigans, but may be scrapped if your meta is into something else and replaced with another copy of Interns or Snatch & Grab or Housekeeping

HF - money makes money

Housekeeping - haven't seen a Runner who'd like that card; yummy!

Interns - recycle Jacksons, lost ICE, Public Support, etc.

S&G - "that's a nice Kati there, it'd be a shame if something happened to her"

SM - free money, unless you're playing against Tenma or Adam ;-)

ICE:

Archer, because it's a great card, regardless of all the Sharpshootin' Faeries out there

Hive, because it will be useful early on, less later on

Other ICE - spice up and change according to your playstyle, but don't remove the Biotics and the Jacksons, because you'll need both. GFIs give you only 2 influence, but maybe there's something you like more - try it out!

Potential changes

-3 Aggressive Negotiation / +1 Interns, +1 Public Support, +1 Restructure (or +X Power Shutdown, depending on the meta)

-1 Hostile Takeover / +1 Underway Renovation

Aggressive Negotiation definitely doesn't work with Public Support (sadly). Public Support is never scored, it's added to your score area.

Looks decent enough otherwise, though some of the agendas obviously don't synergise with the ID (not necessarily a problem if they fit into your gameplan).

Perhaps a little lighter on ICE than I personally like for Weyland, but then I've never actually played Titan (and I also made an ICEless Argus, so I should shut up now :P )

I'm not sure Hive is the right call for the rate at which you want to score out. Maybe Fire Wall would be better? You've already got Spiderweb for taxing Faust and the like, and the ability to advance it can be extremely useful (and is easily ignored otherwise).

I think Hive is good in Titan FA, it's an amazing rush ICE, and you generally want to rush the first agenda from the table, and the rest from HQ (ideally Atlas train, but other things can be done). I'm not feeling Public Support in this deck, and Aggressive Negotiation seems a bit hard to pull off.

Not playing Mark Yale makes Titan's ability a bit of waste. Getting an extra 3 out of Hostile Takeover and any other agenda that doesn't actually use counters is too good to give up IMO. Sometimes that 1 for using an Atlas token can also make a difference...

How does Housekeeping fit the game plan? Sure, it's an annoying card, but is it annoying enough to help you score out?

I don't feel you're using the identity to it's fullest potential. The only synergy you have in there is Project Atlas. Granted, it's a good combination, but you might also want to run Geothermal Fracking and maybe even Mark Yale + Firmware Updates. For the deck you're building, I don't think the two influence points are worth sacrificing the utility of Gagarin Deep Space: Expanding the Horizon, Blue Sun: Powering the Future, or even Weyland Consortium: Building a Better World.

That being said, Aggressive Negotiation and Biotic Labor seem a bit excessive, Freelancer seems like a one-use only card, Snatch and Grab doesn't work against Sunny or Geist, and Interns don't seem particularly helpful when only 7 of your cards are assets and/or upgrades.

With what I see from your deck building style, you may be more suited to running a Haas-Bioroid identity. I'd love to see you make an HB deck revolving around extra clicks, but probably hate to go against it.

@enk - thanks for taking the time to read and evaluate the list.

Housekeeping is there to slow the Runner down and counter any Currents they may want to put on the table. I think it's one of the best Currents in the game, right next to Cerebral Static.

This list could work better in Gagarin Deep Space: Expanding the Horizon, but the Project Atlas auto-token is really key for finding useful cards when needed. Blue Sun: Powering the Future doesn't have any good ICE here. Weyland Consortium: Building a Better World gets only some extra money that you get from Hostile Takeover in a much larger boost anyway.

I'm not convinced about Mark Yale, because it's an asset you have to install and possibly protect, for which you should not waste time/money.

Public Support work well to enable the Archers, but I did scrap them in the newest version of this deck.

Aggressive Negotiation has been removed, since the rules are not in favour of using Public Support as a condition trigger here. Yet another slight for Weyland ;-)

@FarCryFromHuman - thanks for taking the time to read and evaluate the list.

As much as Fire Wall is cool, it falls over to D4v1d, Quetzal: Free Spirit, and is a bit too expensive for this deck. I generally decreased the number of Barrier ICE pieces in the latest build for this, since this is what Runners will expect and set up for.

@MystRChaos - thanks for taking the time to read and evaluate the list.

That one synergy is what makes this deck work, I agree. Geothermal Fracking produces a lot of money (which this deck should not have huge problems with) for a lot of Bad Publicity, and I'm not sure I want to give the Runner extra money to trash stuff and crash through my ICE every time they run. Mark Yale takes up space and clicks that I think are better used for finding SanSans and building up defenses. Also, Firmware Updates would require ICE you can advance to be fully useful. I know it turns into an economy agenda with Yale, but it's also a bit slower than Hostile Takeover. If you build and test a variant with Yale / Updates, let me know!

Aggressive Negotiation doesn't work, indeed. Has been removed since. Same for Biotic Labor (too expensive, too much influence, and does not tax the Runner in any way). Interns OTOH are pure gold, since they double your SanSans and/or triple your Jacksons, especially against the like of Whizzard: Master Gamer. Snatch and Grab is not perfect for all occasions, but if you face a Runner who loves Kati Jones a bit too much, you'll give them something to worry about.

@CommissarFeesh - thanks for taking the time to read and evaluate the list.

Yup, Aggressive Negotiation sadly doesn't combo with Public Support :-/ Weyland's got it really rough, hm?

As for "light on ICE" - hehe, actually @MystRChaos must know me from somewhere, since one of my other ANR dreams is making a viable Custom Biotics: Engineered for Success deck that has all the clicks and very little ICE. I think that post-D&D there's hope ;-)
