Pre-rotation decklist |
I read Strange Flesh on a flight recently and thought it was alright. So I've decided to make two decks themed around the book, one for Corp and one for Runner. This is the Runner deck. The Corp deck is here. They're not particularly strong, definitely not competitive, but I might use these as introductory decks. I've had to take some liberties with some parts of the deck. For example, ICE isn't really mentioned at all, so I've made up a fairly standard ICE breaker suite.
Tallie Perrault, being the main character of the book is obviously the starting point. Sadly, the Corp deck I built only has 5 Grey or Black Ops, but nevermind.
Blackmail, Dirty Laundry and Investigative Journalism all fit with the theme of Tallie uncovering the truth and also help use the Bad Publicity generated by Tallie.
For 'Valentine', I've chosen the Muertos Gang Member. Although not actually a member of said gang, he's certainly a bit of a thug and a liability. For 'Leah', I've chosen Tri-maf Contact. Again, she's not actually a member of the Tri-maf, but the card art is fitting and whilst more useful, when Tallie really upsets 'Leah', she is violently attacked. Public Sympathy represents the sympathetic attitude shown to Tallie by the NAPD. Off-Campus Apartment is Val and Leah's apartment, or Tallie's.
I've Had Worse is for the treatment Tallie suffers but also because Humanity Labour/Human First are involved towards the end of the book. Political Operative is Gavril, the Human First spokesperson.
Noise: Hacker Extraordinaire is the only real choice for runner identity, given that he's the only runner that shows up and also, Tallie's an Anarch card. Turntable is his console and Hard at Work has him on the art and gives the deck some economy. The breaker suite is kind of standard, given that no runs actually take place.
If the book is going to include jarring Matrix references, So can I.
Finally, Liberated Account. Because I doubt the money Noise gives Tallie at the end was actually his to give.
