[STARTUP] Blending with the Surroundings

TheBigH 16

The goal of this deck is to install Chameleons as the main breakers, with Atman, Paule's Café, and Cybertrooper Talut supporting them. This deck worked surprisingly well, despite having no "real" breakers. Tāo Salonga: Telepresence Magician is more helpful than I expected, letting you swap troublesome ice with ice that fits the strength of Chameleon/ Atman better. It even let me get out of an infinite-ganked loop once.

Main Cards:

Chameleon - When supported by Paule's Café and Cybertrooper Talut, Chameleons become very efficient at dealing with pretty much all ice. The only problem is the clicks needed to install or host, the fixed strength of 3, and the need to guess the type of ice before encountering. Also most efficient if multiple runs are made after installing them, but still work with one run per turn.

Atman - A very helpful secondary breaker that can also be installed with Paule's Café to similar effect. Atman can also be used on its own if there are no Chameleons around to still interface with ice.

Rezeki - One of the best economy cards ever, especially if installed for free from the DZMZ Optimizers, these provide continuous money throughout the game without requiring any clicks.

Professional Contacts - Useful throughout the game as both a money and draw card, and the click combination is helpful with the clicks needed for Paule's Café. Also helpful against Jinteki damage decks for the ability to make money while drawing cards.

Support Cards:

Paule's Café - A very important combo card, it lets Chameleons be installed in a similar way to using Self-modifying Code: installing them on Paule's Café first, and then using Paule's Café to install them when you hit an ice. This lets you choose the icebreaker type for Chameleon after seeing the ice which solves the main problem of Chameleon and means you can generally get through any one-ice server. When there are multiple Connections out, Paule's Café also lets the Chameleons be installed for free, mirroring the effect of DZMZ Optimizer.

Cybertrooper Talut - Another important card, Cybertrooper Talut means that every Chameleon installed is at 5 strength instead of 3, which lets you break most ice in the startup card pool.

DZMZ Optimizer - Helps with MU and install costs. The perfect rig for this deck is 3 Rezeki, 3 Chameleon, and at least 1 Leech, which adds up to 7 MU, so the extra MU is very nice. The secondary part of the card also helps install the Rezeki, and can stand in for Paule's Café if all of them have been destroyed.

Leech - Leech is very useful to help break very high strength ice like Brân 1.0 or Trebuchet, and can also be used with Atman to break ice outside of the chosen strength.

Other Cards:

The Maker's Eye helps with central pressure. The other cards are mostly just efficient money and draw cards, with The Artist doubling as another Connection for Paule's Café. The Artist might be unnecessary because there are already two unique connections, but is also one of my favorite cards and can be helpful for constant money and discounts on hardware. The Ice Carvers are to help with high-strength ice, just like the Leeches, but I have not yet had a situation where they were helpful. They also interfere with Atman settings, so the influence might be better spent elsewhere (maybe two Bravado?) None of the Shaper consoles seemed to suit this deck, so I chose Pennyshaver which seemed to work best with making runs, as well as providing more economy.

All in all the deck is very fun to play, and once set up the breakers are surprisingly effective. Have fun using non-AI "AI" icebreakers, and hope your Chameleons don't hide from you :)
