Dubious Decision

Cobalt 444

The decision, in this case, being to only play two Bahia Bands because I lost my third one somewhere.

Came back to Nats this year to try and do better than last year - and I'd say I managed it! Finishing 25th (and being in top cut contention, to boot) is a heck of an improvement over my first Netrunner outing - and I've met so many new friends in that time, too. Best game ever.

Deck's good, so give it a try! Patchwork so often reads "gain 2 per turn" which is nuts to have on a console. Playing a Dirty Laundry by discarding Strike Fund or Steelskin Scarring is a second-to-none feeling, and once you get rolling the economy can feel unstoppable. The Conduit-Aeneas Informant combo can make "R&D lock" more like "R&D fortified bunker" in the very late game if the Corp can't muster a taxing defence (and even then, enough trashables mean you can still make a profit).

I think there's still some ironing out to do regarding the exact mix of events and resources - The Price and Moshing were in-again-out-again cards that I could never quite decide if I liked or not, and the exact counts of Paladin Poemu and Liberated Account are probably up for debate. Slots hard™.

Jarogniew Mercs was slotted in fear of Punitive RH, Clearinghouse BtL and kill-combo NEH, but I ended up not running into any of them, so that was a bust. (At least it's Patchwork fuel.) Keep it if your local meta is meat-damage-happy, though - it invalidates a lot of lines as soon as it hits the table.

Need to learn how to do Cut Math™ for the future (assuming the world doesn't pivot to Single-Sided Swiss) - this is the first event in which I've taken IDs and a 2-for-1 in a mercenary "make top cut" sort of fashion, but it didn't work out in the end. Who knows, maybe I should play more games of Netrunner at a Netrunner tournament! 😂

Check out Chordgang's version that made top cut, too!
