Making the jump to Standard: Cpt_nice's R+

This list is part of a series of decks used to make the jump from Startup to Standard easier for newer players. These decks keep Startup-legal IDs but add a few Standard cards to make them competitive while keeping them approachable.

This is Cpt_nice's The Matrix Reloaded (with just one swap). The list leverages R+'s tempo gain when giving tags while also threatening tag punishment through Psychographics and especially Exchange of Information.

  • Three non-Startup Agenda's to keep in mind: 1) Global Food Initiative is great as it's a 5/3 that counts as 2 points if the runner steals it. We're actually pretty happy to have this stolen to set up Exchange of Information (more on this later). 2) 15 Minutes can be scored by hand (and recovered if stolen). Good fodder for Exchange since we can yank it back and repeat. 3) Quantum Predictive Model gives even more value to our tagging ICE. Installed behind a Funhouse we can score it clicklessly and creditless (if stolen).
  • Exchange of Information is our main form of tag punishment. We want to set this up while the runner has 3-point agendas in their score area, and we have small agendas to trade away. Both Public Trail and a double-advanced Tomorrow's Headline can help up achieve this.
  • Rashida Jaheem and NGO Front are often a must-include in Standard corp deck. NGO provides good bluffing material when IAA'd. We can bait the runner into taxing ICE to pop the NGO pulling the rug from under their feet.
  • Prisec is a great deterrent.
  • We have 3 non-Startup ICE pieces: IP Block becomes really annoying installed behind a Funhouse; Mausolus is good for money and tags; Hydra is our scariest ICE, but pretty expensive to rez.
