Tangler Tango

The Dallas meta is back! 29 amazing people showed up for our CO, putting us back into peak numbers back in the old FFG days. Also, really cool to see some of the Austin crew show up. Many thanks to the TOs for setting it all up and keeping it running smoothly! The real highlight of the day was someone actually falling into a Superdeep Borehole. Some say he's still falling to this day.

Inspiration

This deck is mostly inspired by a combination of Undefeated Slimes and the small amount of what I saw of Alex Boyd's Ari deck from the Boston CO stream. I really like the fast aggro playstyle with built-in forward momentum as opposed to the big World Tree decks out there right now.

The Tango

The deck plays the early game aggressively with the tangler to get into remotes wanting to setup the early agenda or econ plays, and then slowly replaces the rig with the reg breaker suite as needed.

Obviously, the tangler is probably Ari's strongest card and I really wanted to accelerate my game forward using Aniccam since LilyPAD's card draw is limited in this list after the rig is up. Events also replacing themselves is just so good to keep your economy moving forward.

Then just close the game out with a dive turn. Pair it with Legwork and Trick Shot for extra style points.

Refinement

I meant to have a Pichação in this list to fully enable Deep Dive, but completely forgot to slot it in the night before. Maybe could also use a Mystic Maemi or Prepaid Voicepad with all the events as well. I know that everyone seems to be on the Miss Bones and Pinhole Threading train right now (and they are likely right), but I felt better spending 2 influence on Scrubber personally and didn't feel too bad after multiple uses.

Round 1 vs NEH

I feel bad about this one. Even though I wasn't able to find Scrubbers early, the corp was repeatedly flooding even with two Daily Business Shows going off and they never found the kill. Eventually, the repeated runs on centrals closed it out for me.

Round 3 vs BtL

It was obvious the the corp was super flooding early game, but a Border Control and fully advanced Pharos kept me out. So, I just sniped the remotes repeatedly and kept on top of R&D while keeping my econ above kill range.

Round 5 vs NEH

This is the loss of the day. I wasn't able to find Aniccam or Scrubbers until really late into the game and my econ kept getting knocked down by Oppo Research while dodging the kill. It was a really close game in the end with the final turn needing an extra click to take the last agenda in the Deep Dive, further reinforcing the need for Pichação.

Semi-Finals vs PD

I was a little nervous with the PD matchup at first. Especially since I was going up against the guy undefeated in the swiss rounds, but Physarum Entangler early made it easy to keep the remote situation under control while taking out the agendas in HQ and R&D before they could stabilize.

Finals vs PD

The final game was against the last of the Austin crew, and it was a good game. It was the only game were I felt like I needed to have the full rig built in order to get in. Thanks to a couple of early game steals, I was able to finish it out in full style with Legwork, Trick Shot, and Deep Dive.
