Orrery ("Best Kickflip" at Mansionrunner 2024)

InfiniteNutshell 848

I've been tinkering with this for a while. It's the deck that helped me discover that Project Yagi-Uda has useful text on it! The deck is very flexible and rewards plays that keep the Runner guessing.

The version I played at Mansionrunner was struggling to draw enough ice in the early game, so in this version I've sadly had to cut the last API-S Keeper Isobel for a Saisentan. I had already cut one copy when RwR came out, since Charlotte fills a lot of the same role (though she can't eat counters off La Costa Grid, and that's still useful sometimes). Dropping the other one was probably inevitable.

I also gave up on Attini and replaced it with Vampryonassa. Those are the only two recent changes.

I have named the deck Orrery because all its pieces like to move around and around. We've got three different pieces of ice that like to bounce around the board, several different cards that orbit around Archives, and Neurostasis, an oft-forgotten ambush that lets the Runner get in on the "fun" of bouncing cards around! (NSG please give me a new Aggressive Secretary effect in Dawn!)

Here's the line that got me the prize for "Best Kickflip": The Runner has 4 points and has been bullying me with Eru Ayase-Pessoa. Any R&D access could end the game if a Vulnerability Audit turns up. I have a bunch of stuff on the board, but nothing too threatening. There's at most 1 advancement counter on anything. But I have a Nisei MK II in HQ and another one in Archives, so when the Runner drops Divide and Conquer, it ought to be a game-ending play.

I rez and fire a Moon Pool, sending both agendas away, but since D&C+Eru will still give 2 R&D accesses, I have to go further. I put the advancement counters from the Moon Pool on a Bio Vault and rez it to end the run right there.
