Hi. The main idea of your deck is there, but i think you have too much cards in a single copy for my part. And i'm not sure that your econ will be enough if you reach late game. Maybe you should consider to put Kati jones or Magnum Opus (but your MU is already tight). Considering your deck's point, here is my adjusment: - 3 diesel (or quality depends on what you prefer) - 1 plascrete - 1 rd interface - 1 datasucker - 1 femme fatale - 1 cyber-cypher - 2 same old thing

  • 3 maker's eyes
  • 1 legwork
  • 1 scavenge
  • 1 gordian blade
  • 2 toolbox
  • 2 magnum opus This should be testing, let me know if it's working^^

Actually, the whole point of this type of deck is to rely solely on the burst economy - Kati Jones is too slow and too vulnerable to being trashed, and Magnum Opus is too click-intensive and memory-intensive. You don't actually need to run every single turn with this deck... in fact, running every turn is going to burn through your money too fast. The deck really needs to make one meaningful run every couple of turns, using multi-accesses such as Maker's Eye and Legwork to get as much done in as little time as possible with the least amount of money spent. By giving the Runner a large amount of credits in very few clicks, Lucky Find also decreases the time it takes to get set up and run efficiently, which helps prevent the Corp from even GETTING to late-game!

Personally, I enjoy the uncertainty Lucky Find puts in the mind of the corporation. When Ms. Jones or Opus is on the table, it's pretty transparent where your money is coming from, and when you can accumulate enough to run. If your econ is mostly burst, such as Lucky Find and Sure Gamble, then the Corp can never be sure when the Luck Find is gonna hit the table. Two clicks, money falls from the sky, and suddenly no server is safe! It makes the Corp a little more uncertain, which is a great thing in a game where the Corp is pretty much solidly in control.

As to your recommendations:

You need as much card draw as possible, so dropping the Diesels completely is not an option. Part of the reason is that you need to get through your deck quickly, to get the VoicePADs and rig set up. Then, the deck can be recycled with Levy AR, and the burst economy and recursion can flow in again. Also, the Diesels/Quality Times are pure gold against Jinteki. If you use one of those before running on them, it's almost impossible to die to net damage. I might drop down to 2 Diesels, if necessary.

Plascrete needs to be a two of... I've seen too many decks lately that have worked in "surprise" meat damage. Plus, when the new NBN ident comes out, a lot of players are going to be running Biotic Labor x2 AND Scorched Earth x2, so I think Plascrete needs to stay. I don't see the reason to lose a game to meat damage when you could just install the most obvious counter known to man...

I agree that he needs to drop the Interface in favor of the Maker's Eyes. One factor is the obvious synergy between the VoicePADs, but also because this deck needs to make a small number of meaningful runs, and these cards are better for that than the R&D Interface. For the same reasons, I agree that Legwork needs to be a two of...

Which means he needs to find a way to add in a third Same Old Thing. If you're going event-heavy that card is invaluable... a third copy will allow you more event recursion and also let you use Levy AR if it gets trashed.

He needs to drop one Femme.. there's no reason to have two. You just cheat the one copy out with Test Run/Scavenge, which necessitates another copy of Scavenge as you said.

The Gordian is where you lose me, though. Cyber-Cypher is just far, far more efficient. I have two of them in my deck, and I have no issues getting anywhere I need to go... Plus, the extra Scavenge can reassign it if necessary, although only occasionally have I had to do that.

Also, why the Toolbox??? Toolbox is too expensive... it's too much of a financial tempo hit for what little it gives you in return, especially if you're not going to cheat it into play with a Eureka or Modded...

This deck has no need for Magnum Opus... I made my case for that in the opening paragraphs. Again, too much of a money hit and it's too click-intensive.

Anyway, that's my two cents! : )

Definitely cut down the one-ofs to make a more efficient, consistent deck. Both of these dudes above make good points (to an extent). But yeah, to make a deck work you need consistency and if you're Diesel-ing and Quality Time-ing your brains out to draw a specific one-of (say, Scavenge to move your Cyber-Cypher) then you have a problem.

@M3th

-Diesel is a key card in prepaid economy, as has been proven in all the winning prepaid lists reported on stimhack.com.

-Cyber-Cypher is much better than Gordian Blade because it's so much cheaper and more efficient considering the prevalence of must-break code gates like Inazuma, RSVP, Tollbooth and the upcoming Lotus Field.

Datasucker is a key card for use with Parasite, Atman and Femme Fatale. It's basically one of the best cards in the game now.

+The Toolbox is unnecessary. MU is provided by CyberSolutions Mem Chip, while the link and recurring credits aren't worth it.

@Alrik_40000 +Plascrete Carapace The deck draws fast with Diesel and Quality Time, and often plans to draw the whole deck, so it's okay at finding the plascrete. Also, it can make a lot of money, so you can fight sea source and midseason that way too before drawing plascrete if you really need to run. Also, Scorched Earth is significantly less popular in my meta now.

-R&D Interface. The first copy of it is nearly always amazing, even against Jinteki. I considered The Maker's Eye but I believe that might be too many events that cost > 0. You can only do one of those a turn for full Prepaid VoicePAD efficiency.

+Legwork. I would run 2 if I had the influence.

+Same Old Thing. This is mainly for Levy AR Lab Access and the occasional Legwork or Quality Time, Scavenge. I can do without it. Don't think I need 3.

-Femme Fatale I have often found that I wish had two of these in my deck, or that I would win a game if only I had two. Sometimes one is in your hand but you need to get in a server this turn. Sometimes you need to femme 2 R&D ice for your indexing. With that said, this is one of the potential cuts that needs more testing.

@wswan The one-of consistency issue is mitigated by the fact that I plan to draw the entire deck with Diesel and Quality Time.

There are 5 ways to tutor any program, between Self-modifying Code and Test Run.

There are many ways to get pass a code gate on a server other than the one Cyber-Cypher is targeting: Atman, Parasite, Femme Fatale, installing over to trash and re-targeting with Test Run.

@Alrik_40000`: Nice to have a constructive discussion here^^ First of all, i have to state that i dotn usually play shaper, except rielle from time to time. I'm more a criminal player. That means that i still have a lot to learn. So i'll try to answer point by point. I perfectly understand that this deck is based on burst econ, so i can only agree that Kati Jones or Magnum Opus is slowing you down here. But you said that the purpose of this deck is not running each turn, so why not using this low tempo for money (MO not kati).

But first of all, i am an aggressiv runner, i try to run once or twice each turn in every turn (depending on who i play against and if i can do it almost safely) because early game can be crucial. Except for some kind of corp, dont put the pressure on servers and don' t make the corp spend money can be fatal. The corp follows its game plan and make ton of money, then you won't be able to access easily. So i'll have to use my event card very soon for money and run. But once we reach mid and late game, corp is set up and then each run will cost you a huge amount of credits. i usually play a prepaid event deck with ken, and without is ability and the recurrence of account syphon, i won't be able to win in end game. That's why i'll will put at least one MO in the deck. Furthermore, to play as you described with Lucky Find(wich is a really good card) your are really dependent of your drawing. Ok corp won't know when you'll be able to play lucky find then run the server you want..but having MO means you can be dangerous at any time if you want, even more if you play the both cards. So to sum up, i think it depends a lot of your way of playing.

I totally agree for the draw engine : Diesel and Quality Time are so important in many cases, particularly against jinteki. Here again i do like using one of this cards, but not all because i'd rather having 3 more slots for everything else, depending of my deck (money, event or plascrete which is still overplayed in my meta). So i usually draw a lot manually, and i become careful against jinteki. But well ok, it makes sense for this deck.

For Cyber-Cypher i actually understand that's a pretty good breaker and i used it in a rielle deck...but not in only one copy, specially with only one #scavenge wich can be already used for Femme Fatale. As slots and influence are precious, i came up with gordian, which gives you the opportunity to run everywhere, without adding more cards. I dont feel safe to know that my Cyber-Cypher is already assigned on rd (i guess most of the time for this deck) and i'm not able to run anywhere else if i need it..Ok cyber is very efficient in early game if you can play it...but after? If the corp play wisely its ices, it could be a problem. Maybe i'll use it in 2 copys and 3 scavenge if i really want to play it. But once again, it's slots i wont use for anything else, less flexibilty and more dependance to the drawing.

For The Toolbox, well ok, it might be a wrong choice. I agree, it's slowing you down and it's very expensive. I usually play shaper with Personal Workshop so most of the time i put toolbox on it and let it come slowy, except if realy need money or link soon. Once again, for my part, it can be really helpfull for some reason : with the link it gaves you you 'll have a free "breaker" for some ice like Caduceus for instance. You'll have 2 MU wich let you have free slots. And once toolbox is on the table, you have a free MO clic each turn. It helped me a lot in many late game. But yes, maybe it's something you can avoid to play. I'll give a shot on my Kate's deck to see how the tempo will be different.

@siowy Agree diesel cant be cut of this deck. Datasucker is a huge card, once again i agree..but very useful if you have it soon in the game..so one copy it's maybe not enough for my part. Moreover, datasuckers need to run often to be efficient..and Alrik_40000 told that this deck dont make it, because not enough money..so seems not to be a good synergy. That's why i'll cut it off, and keep Parasite as a surprise for annoying ice, which can come back with Clone Chip. If you want to use Femme Fatale as your main sentry breaker in a shaper deck, you don't play one datasucker, but Dinosaurus or The Personal Touch..i mean that you build your deck consequently or you will pay a lot. That's only my opinion. Here 2 femme, why not, her by passed hability can be really usefull (toolboth, heimdall...), as you sometimes i wish i have a secnd one to help me, but here, i'm not sur you'll be able to pay for both. And i think that Atman will be for strong and expensive ices too (Inazuma..), i won't play him in the same way as a Katman deck. R&D Interface is pretty expensive, but ok why not..i'll prefer use The Maker's Eye in a prepaid event deck, because i save money here. But matter of taste.. Well i think i'm done. But that's why i love this game, there isn't one truth for a good deck..and the way you play it is so important as the deck itself. :)
