[TWA] Rielle in Red v:1.04

Shielsy 929

Hey all, I'd like to update a list I really enjoyed from Store Champs season! The core idea that this list is built on sort of goes like:

  • find a Refractor.

  • tutor for the Nerve Agent.

  • use 2 or 3 recurring creds to make at least 1 run on HQ a turn.

Now there are plenty of issues with a strategy this linear:

  • if the corp is fast advancing then they can play off of the top.

  • if the corp has some decent middle or large ICE it can be pretty hard to get in reliably, especially when those kinds of decks usually play very few agendas.

  • once the corp has a decent remote they can simply hide their agendas in it, away from your nerve agent pressure.

Woman in the red dress actually solves all of these issues really elegantly, since it trigger on the runners turn. This means that you always get to know whether that agenda is in HQ or on R&D, and have the opportunity to take it before it gets hidden in a large remote or scored off a San-San.

So when an agenda pops up and the corp leaves it on top, you can find a dog and get in there to take it. If the corps puts that agenda in hand you can test run a Femme and attack HQ with your Nerve Agent.

Because the pieces come together in such a responsive way the Modded is pretty restrictive, but it's still worth having 2 because it is so efficient.

The reason for the update specifically is Career Fair. Career Fair is a very powerful card, and maybe even my new favorite runner card. It's on par with Modded for efficiency, making it more powerful than Sure Gamble, but doesn't suffer from any of Modded hallmark timing and redundancy issues. Chaining Daily Casts and Earthrise Hotels is exactly where I want to be regardless of how early in the game it is, and being able to proactively charge out Woman in the Red Dress is right up this decks alley.

Thanks to @poohaus for testing the hell out of this, and recognizing the strength of Diesel in this list.

Please enjoy, and don't forget your triggers.

Having Femme Fatale as your only Killer could cause problems... Apart from the bypass, it's actually really inefficient against a lot of popular killers. A common way around this is Datasucker, or just having a Mimic as backup.

How are you finding Career Fair and Modded?

Most sentries you'll see will be code gates too since sentries generally go outside, otherwise, there aren't very many good inner most sentries, especially that femme can't handle.

Yeah that's the position I've ended up in a lot, where I'm breaking sentries with a refractor. The way it usually plays out is that if the sentry is pretty big, you by-pass it with femme (once they've developed the server into a second ICE), and if it's pretty small then you can just break it with the femme that's bypassing something else.

There is another secret advantage to Rielle here: since your basically guarenteed to not need a killer until turn 2 or 3, you can afford to rely on testrun/scavenge to aquire it. Garotte is the only real competition for femme in terms of power level (one you ignore install costs) but its like 8 influence or something.

It's true though that this is the primary weakness in the deck, and I think that a stimhack or a data sucker are both good for covering it. Stimhack is a little more versatile I think, since it can fetch a femme or a dog off an SMC, while not costing any memory (which is pretty much maxed out).

I do go back and forth a lot on stimhack/code siphon vs datasucker/akamatsu mem chip, and I think there are advantages to both though, so it might just come down to preferred play style.

Career fair is stronger than both lucky find and sure gamble, albeit with some slight strategic restrictions. That said, its a strategy I love (economy = good) and my career fairs are unlikely to ever be unsleeved ever again.

I love modded and career fair, my primary kim deck is running 3 of each to good effect, well worth the 9 inf

(y). Is that the 4th iteration?

Just heard the latest podcast. Great to see you kept working the deck. I still have it sleeved up but haven't played it in a while. Career fair is a huge card in so many builds and this is no exception. Kudos for an awesome deck.

I haven't tested Code Siphon but its another card (like woman in red) that I've always wanted to see work but wasn't able to figure out.

Excited to test it out! This is one of my favorite lists to play. Tons of fun.

Speaking of poorhaus, this deck looks VERY poor credit-wise. Can you address this for me please? The idea sounds great. I also heard the podcast.
