It's the Friday night before Nationals, you've had a few beers at the pub, caught up with some mates from your home town, lamented that you have no idea what to play and complained that runners can do whatever the hell they want. So do you...
A: Play the Shoot the Moon PD deck you've already sleaved up that has at least a 75% win rate on Jnet and kinda just works because it is fair, honest netrunner, with Big Deal.
B: Remember that you hate the colour Purple and fair, honest netrunner, then decide to remake a silly murder Ob deck in order to choose Violence
Well if you're reading this then you know what I picked
To give a little more credit to the process, I'd noticed that Miss Bones was on the decline recently (usually being a 1x instead of a 2 in most decks), mulch is obviously dead and that SDS was a massive headache for the newer breeds of Shaper. I'd fooled around with the Hearts and Minds decks and mostly found that The Powers That Be and Holoman were Good Cards whilst Hearts usually just got trashed or, annoyingly, actually didn't do anything tempo wise. Like of course it's a silly card that Scores Stuff, but if there isn't anything to never advance its not like it can charge something.
Then after looking at influence I figured out that if you cut Calibration Testing and a Powers you can get 2 economy cards into your deck. Namely 2 Reaper Functions. And then there's the obvious question of why play a 2 cost Must Trash card when we can play a 3 cost Must Trash card called Urban Renewal. That, by the by, also trashes itself to search for Spin Doctors or Rasheda and keeps the tempo going.
And so after bidding farewell to the Sydney crew and stumbling back home, here we go, we have successfully assembled 49 cards and a dream. A dream of Murder. With a side of scoring. Which with The Powers that Be is frequently used to recur Murder.
So this deck is an adaptation of this Vera Ob Murder deck that, sadly, has to cut Vera for real cards. In this case Holoman and The Powers that Be. It is a pity because if we could somehow make Ob a 19 influence ID we could have a lot of fun, but alas. By adding Holoman and Powers, we have successfully added "scoring out" as a win condition. A bit novel but we'll take it.

I will first up freely admit that the deck has room for improvement, as at the very least one Slash and Burn should probably instead be an Atlas to give more fast scoring potential. It could be modified as well to run some Eminent Domains and the accompanying support. Also the fact that there is 0 non-asset Economy I've found to work, but it is a bit sketchy. Like surely we can find room for 1-2 Extracts. However the core concept is kinda a bit simple.
If you can't meaningfully tax the runner for any amount of credits when they are set up and have drawn the cards they want, make them awkwardly run before they are ready and tax their hand size. The deck doesn't necessarily kill a bunch of the time, so much as it grinds them down. 2 games this weekend into Esa I played involved Esa getting completely decked and being unable to dodge the kill for Angelique's 1 meat damage.
For other notes: your economy is all assets. You will need to juggle it a bit but it does work. It helps that your powerhouse card, Svyatogor Extractor, has some very nice cost to trash numbers. The deck also has more ice than traditional because one way you get absolutely rekt is if you can't get more than 1 piece of ice and an early Miss Bones hits the table. Not ideal.
The economy typically works early on (assuming you don't just draw it and install like a normal person) via firing a Reaper function or Rezing and Selling a Mavirus in order to pull out a Mining License or, if your hand is awful, Drudge work. Then you immediately shoot your credit total to the sky. Subsequent Reapers or Maviruses can pull out Marilyns to get the drip going.
From there you can drain them, search your deck then start trying to "score" some Urban renewals and get the clock ticking.
Spin Doctor is one of the strongest card in Ob. Try to lessen the burden of recursion you require from him. Accomplish this with Powers and Drudge Work. Drudge Work is very valuable in this deck, sometimes even as an economy engine or for its intended purpose of trying to undo all that Esa sabotage. But the simple fact is that often you are trying to fire an Urban renewal, it causes your hand to clog up with Agendas. Drudge gets rid of them and can then be sold or trash itself for a super valuable 1 cost card. Like Powers or Urban Renewal.
Don't worry about Pinhole threading that much: the runner will run out of threadings long before you run out of garbage that hurts them to feed through the remote. You can do a surprise Rez of a Hostile Architecture to complicate matters if they successfully pull it off too. You can also mix it up by scoring Agendas. The deck is pretty capable of scoring an Azef from Board through Holoman, then scoring one from hand by installing it through Powers that Be (which you may have searched through that Azef score), which always leads to a funny kill.
Above all else, have a bit of fun with it and try not to go too crazy with the lines on offer.

At last we can stop wasting letters on the grossly inefficient 'Combo Ob' now that we've entered the tournament-sharpened Cobmo meta. Also congrats on both the result and your upcoming forced repatriation back to Sydney. |
Now with Writeup I threw together before work :P
