Astral Pre-Paid KAtman (SanSan South)

So Internets, help me out.

This deck is my question.

Though any and all feedback is welcome, I'd love to hear from people through the lens of highly competitive play.

I still can't bring myself to pick up the semi-standard, old-hotness, worlds top 8 decks, though I understand their purpose, and why they are effective. Just doesn't seem as fun to me, and though winning is fun, its not the source of it for me.

That being said ... I'm tired of losing.

So this is my slight variant to the to that hotness. This is the least amount of jank I could build a deck with, and I am wondering, if it can make the cut? Is this potentially 'Tier 1'?

Yes, I get that the meta will be super different by the time Breaker Bay comes out ... but if you look at the 2013/2014 worlds decks look like, you can see we're not evolving (may be a problem in itself: See Runner win rates)

Jank I wanted but decided to do without:

  1. Replacing Plascretes with Public Sympathy (Synergizes with Comet/Events) or even Beach Parties.

  2. Replacing SMCs with Test Runs (to Synergize with PPVP/Comet)

Jank I want to keep:

  1. Comet

  2. Day Job

  3. Modded in a deck that clearly wants to SMC (Works wonders with Comet)

  4. The combo of a 1 click Index/Dirty Laundry/Makers Eye.

  5. Can't seem to find room for Same Old Thing.

this is super oldskewl with a new twist. Comet will be ridiculous. Utopia Shard is awesome, but seems random in your deck. Also two Plascrete Carapace's? I'd perhaps look into Same Old Thing instead of one PC and utopia. Random opinion. Love this deck though, can't wait to see it play (and see how it goes in the meta)

Another quick explanation of card choices

Why Day Job? First off this card does 2.5 Creds a click with PPVP ... so I almost expect this is PPVP Decks anyway.

Why Dirty Laundry & The Maker's Eye over R&D Interface? Simple: Indexing & Comet

Really ... Modded? Yeah, even if you just install an SMC with it, you still get a free install and another event ... so its Jank, guess this is where I can find room for Same Old Thing?

Professional Contacts: I actually have seen this in many PPVP decks, its everything I want, trickle card draw, trickle econ. Or should I replace with John Masanori?

Mimic: Architect, Komainu, Swordsman, that is all.

Everything else I feel explains itself. The big thing is ... Its just enough Jank/combo for me to be happy, but if I were to bring this to a high level tournament, will my need to be a little odd be killing my chances of winning?

@Sinbu: Blue Sun: Powering the Future scares the crap out of me ... and the last time I didn't put Plascrete Carapace in my 'tourney' deck I went 5-1 with my corp and 3-3 with my runner, only not making the cut via Weak side wins ... all of my losses were to Scorched Earth.

Like I said, I'd like to trade that in for perhaps Public Sympathy or maybe even Beach Party.

So what are you plans agains Wraparound? shake your opponent's hand and mutter "gg"?

I know you seem set on keeping it, but I'd replace modded with one inti, to deal with wraparound and small barriers, then slot in two same old thing. Also replace utopia shard with a femme.

@Kroen & @steevo15: Both totally valid arguments, and probably fixes for the next version of this.

Thinking:

-1 Utopia Shard

-3 Modded

+1 Inti

+1 Indexing

+1 The Maker's Eye

+1 Femme Fatale

I understand that Same Old Thing is more flexible, but I have a hard time including copies of it when there's really only 3 events I'd want to use it for, and I don't have 3 copies of those events (Indexing, Makers, and Levy AR Lab Access)

But then again. I've been more than just a little wrong before, thank you for the advice.

You need at least one Same Old Thing in case you lose your Levy AR Lab Access to Net Damage against Jinteki. Otherwise the deck looks fine with the changes others already suggested, but with the small exception that I would have either Snowball or Cerberus "Lady" H1 instead of Inti to help deal with Big Barriers that are in fashion.

With PPVP you might want to consider Test Run instead of SMC as you can get to use your single Parasite more often. And Test Run works like magic with Femme Fatale, but 1-2 Scavenge would be nice as well to get the Femme Fatale permanently in your Rig.

Inti winds up being a solution to Wraparound alone, I do think I need to find 1 or perhaps 2 slots for Same Old Thing.

I do really like the idea of replacing SMC with Test Run. But I also love the idea of instant speed Atman, and possibly leveraging Clone Chip for additional tutoring.

Otherwise Clone Chip is only for recurring Parasite. If I wind up using Test Run, I'll probably want to take out the clone chips, and put Modded and Scavenge in. Best part about Test Run in a Comet deck? Clickless Scavenge right afterward.
