This is quite an interesting list. I tried a Faust list but never managed to make Faust work over the other options really.

Do you feel you run out of gas with only 1 Clone Chip? I often find myself overdrawing due to Geist's ability, and being able to discard and know I have Clone Chips to recurr them is nice.

Also, no Account Siphon for the ultra denial plan with Cresentus?

@LeaPlath One clone chip is fine, I'll just Levy and do it again. You could go -1 SacCon -1 Peddler +1 Clone Chip.

Siphon isn't a great option because this isn't really a denial deck and when breakers are one-time use I would rather use them to get accesses. I would probably go -1 SoT -1 Inside Job -1 Shiv to add Siphon.

Plus adding Siphons weakens Street Peddler

Love the name. Looks like a ton of fun. I really wish you had brought this to worlds.

Alright, quick update after my first tournament with this.

Faust was almost entirely unnecessary. I think I used it twice all day. Same with Inside Job. Medium was also a too optimistic. Scored me a ton of points but it definitely held the deck back in the late game, which is when this deck suffers in the first place. Other than those three cards the deck worked insanely well.

Fisk Investment into Legwork was clutch, and Same Old for Sure Gamble is actually pretty good (2 clicks, 4 creds plus a card).

Autoscripter was the best card in the deck, and the Sacrifical Construct interaction came up several times.

These are the changes:

  • Faust x1
  • Inside Job x1
  • Medium x1
  • Same Old Thing x1
  • Street Peddler x1
  • Bank Job x1
  • Clone Chip x1
  • Symmetrical Visage x1
  • The Maker's Eye x2

I honestly think this deck will be competitive tier once I spend a few weeks playing it and figure out how to tune it a little better. I know that's not something you can convince people with a write up (gotta put up those tournament results) but you might want to keep an eye on it. It's pretty legit.

Do you think the performance has to do more with the strength of Geist or the specific strength of this build? Are you getting worthwhile value out of Autoscripter without Desperado or SecTest ? This seems like a less aggressive Geist build and without playing it I'm wondering how that refunded click is being invested. No disrespect just genuine curiosity

23 Nov 2015 nobo

@moistloaf I don't understand your point about Autoscripter and Sec Testing. The deck doesn't use the clicks for anything in particular, it just doesn't fall behind from constantly installing these cloud breakers.

I think the cloud breakers are a huge tempo sink, so Autoscripter is more about buying back some of those clicks to keep the pressure up. Regularly taking 5 click turns is crazy powerful. I highly recommend you give it a go; on paper it looks like a bunch of cards no one plays but you start playing it and it feels like Noise except he doesn't have to spend a click to install the first virus every turn.

Thoughts about maybe Scheherazade instead of the second clone chip? I've found she makes a good home for my cloud breakers since they won't be around long anyway. Maybe Tech Writer is a good enough substitution.

Seems like you might still want an AI breaker if you're taking out Faust - maybe an Overmind? Should usually have a bunch of counters since you're mostly cloud based.

Never thought Geist could approach Tier 1 until I had to play against this on Saturday, this deck is brutal.

@Nobo715 Most Geist I see run fall guy for econ and damage protection, why did you choose not to include FGs in your list? just didn't make the cut? or do you think its superfluous?

25 Nov 2015 nobo

@tzeentchling only played one GNK so far (not much nerdrunner time since worlds) and neither breakers nor econ were the problem, it was closing power. I'm going to see if I can rock cloud breakers only, and hopefully the addition of maker's will mean the breakers are not taxed too much. Come up and visit us soon!

@TheYoYoGuy Against the kill I think the plan is to just leave your peddlers on the board and use forger. It's kind of shoddy but I managed to survive a haarp at berkeley. If this isn't sustainable I would probably add a plascrete before fall guy. Again, econ and cards were not too hard to come by, it was just closing the game (against both you and Jared, my two losses).

@Nobo715 I've been playing this deck on and off and it's got a really interesting feel to it - almost like a cross between a prepaid Kate (in that you're usually waiting to make haymaker runs instead of being highly aggressive early on) and a Hayley deck of some kind (simply for the sheer amount of things you install). It's a lot of fun, but I've had a few specific problems with it, and I'm curious if you have any tips.

Foodcoats - it's hard for me to consistently get in and trash money assets, but if I let the assets run, they can easily throw up enough ice to run me out of the cloud breakers. Not sure what to do, feels like if I don't snipe enough points fast enough then I just lose, but their ice is beefy.

RP - This one's usually pretty close (all my games vs. RP with it so far have been 5-7 or 6-7) but it feels like it all hangs on psi games. Will Political Operative be making an appearance here in the future for protective upgrades? I also sometimes run into the 'money asset' issue here, with the difference being that it's usually easy to deal with them early, but eventually there are windows where I'm low on breakers and they snowball to a credit lead. Played a game recently where it was not even worth Crescentusing a Tollbooth except for the draw, because my opponent had 33 credits in the late game; despite me murdering a lot of Sundews and MHCs early, they just kept coming back.

I'm also curious if you have any further tweaks after:

-Faust -Inside Job -Medium -Same Old -Street Peddler

+Bank Job +Visage +Clone Chip +Maker's Eye (2x)

1 Dec 2015 stoppableforce

missed part of a sentence there re Foodcoats:

but their ice is beefy enough that sniping hard can be taxing on resources.

2 Dec 2015 nobo

@stoppableforce Awesome feedback. Yeah, @codemarvelous has two really good Geist decks, and he has similar breakers + Passport and Breach. I'm going to try those additions because I ran into a similar problem with assets. Caprice can also be pretty scary, so I'm sure Political Operative will need to go in eventually.

Foodcoats - I would trash any Adonis that won't cost you too many breakers, but other than that I wouldn't trash Eves unless they are totally unprotected and the corp is poor.

RP - I might have to put a film critic in just because Future Perfect is soooo brutal against this deck. I've switched the 2 Street Peddlers to Security Chips, just to test them out, but I could see one of these being a Film Critic.

The changes were good, Maker's Eye is much more appropriate. Crescentus has been a bit lukewarm, but that might just be because the breakers haven't been perfected.

It does play a lot more like Kate, or even Noise, than it does other criminals. I love the playstyle of this deck, and with the tournament season being over I'm looking forward to spending a few weeks developing it!

@Nobo715 I tested this out a bit, and I found myself burning out my starting cash building up for the early pressure. The deck as posted, I thought about trying -1 clone chip +2 Scheherazade, because you can just install 1 cost breakers over and over, and gain bucks on faerie and shiv. Seems like it helps sustain your install ability, without having to click for credits, and continue to build the Tech writers. This is all if you have issue hitting a solid bank job early anyway....

Given the rest of the thread, maybe its -1 medium -1 peddler -1 clone +2 TME +2 hera?

12 Dec 2015 nobo

@x3r0h0ur I haven't played the Medium version in a while no. Scheherazade is really interesting. I went back and put a Passport and a Breach in, but I'm thinking about switching those to Overminds. Also trying Security Chip, so lots of things to test.

13 Dec 2015 x3r0h0ur

Yea im actually testing with 2x security chip in mine. 2x TME has been great too.

This is a really cool list, and alongside my APEX deck has really made me fall back in love with being a runner instead of a solitaire bored beyond belief corp. One change I've made to help with glacier match ups is putting in a Surfer to replace the Medium. I get way too much out of Faust to risk throwing it away.
