PE7 (3rd @ RandomNet #4)

J-Flex 211

I got drawn Jinteki Personal Evolution as my Random ID for this RandomNet and with all these Accelerated Diagnostics combos flying around, I wondered if was possible to do something similar here - thousand cuts/Cambridge style PE is too traditional for my likings, lets shoot for the stars...

My first iteration of a "7 point combo" deck involved Mushin No Shin which combined with combo cards means you can ignore the extra click costs and slam 3 agendas on to the board. Seems a strong start but the stipulation that you cannot score the cards on the same turn meant it was a whiff...

So it can be done, but it's not easy.

The Setup

  • You will need an Excalibur on HQ, the innermost ice is best.
The deck includes 1 Inazuma which should be placed in front of it to help ensure that the Excalibur does fire.
  • You also need 1 or more Ice Walls with at least 6 advancements on them. The advancements can be spread out over multiple Walls but they need to be even in number - these will serve as our Trick of Light batteries. They do not need to be rezzed, and in some cases this is bad I learnt.
  • An installed Jeeves Model Bioroids. It does need to be rezzed until we're ready to combo but being able to take 3 or advance 3 times and play a card helps get you set up quicker.
  • An installed Political Dealings. This is best left unrezzed and ideally faked out as a failed trap (You are Jinteki after all)
  • Panic Button installed in the root of HQ.
  • And finally, a fair number of credits in order to draw most of your deck.

The Combo

You are now ready to go. All that is needed is for the Runner to make a run on HQ. That is, if you haven't already lost on R+D (quite possible). There aren't many agendas in the deck but there is no room for traps so the runner could just run there and be fine.
Assuming the runner runs on HQ, you have to make sure they commit to encountering the Excalibur and the sub fires, either by them not having an AI breaker or the Inazuma helping out.
When that encounter is about to happen, rez all of your other combo pieces, Panic Button, Jeeves and Political Dealings and go ahead spending credits drawing cards. If you draw an Agenda, happily reveal it and install it, safe in the knowledge that the runner cannot run on them thanks to our Mythic buddy.
The ideal agendas are 2 Show of Force and 1 Improved Protein Source but any combination of 3 4 advancement agendas that get you to 7 points is fine. 3 Show of Force will probably guarantee a flatline kill unless the runner has lots of damage protection.
It's fine to draw most of your deck, just make sure you can still do your mandatory draw come your next turn, Jackson can help, and also leave yourself with at least 5 credits which we'll need to combo.
If you've got this far, breathe out. The hard part is over. Now all is left is to combo out, provided you haven't lost your Jeeves through clever runner play.

1 : Play Hasty Relocation and stack your deck with 3 Trick of Light.
2 : Play Accelerated Diagnostics and move 6 advancements off Ice Wall(s) to put 2 advancements on each of the 3 agendas.
3 : Play another Hasty Relocation, this time stacking your deck with 3 Shipment from Kaguya. This will be the 3rd event you've played this turn which grants you...
a Jeeves ! which you use to play another Accelerated Diagnostics and spread the advancements over the 3 agendas so that now each has 4 and can be scored!
Each agenda scored does 1 net damage, and each Show of Force does an additional 2 meat damage. Over the two types of damage, that's 7 cards and also 7 points which should be enough for a double win.
mic drop

On the day every runner had some means to deal with excalibur and prevent it firing, be that Apex with Faust, Adam's ABR clicks or Panchatantra Gingerbread shenanigans, which meant that the wonder combo was not possible. I had it all set up versus the PanchaBread deck and more than enough credits to draw all the cards I needed but the runner breaking Excalibur meant it wasn't worth going for the combo (it would have been fine if it was their last click, but alas). That being said, AD and Hasty meant it was possible to score from hand if needs be, there were no anti-Fast Advance being played.
The deck managed 2 wins, 1 by scoring out the win with only 2 cards remaining in the deck and the other by flatline after wiping out Adam's hand with Show of Force and then Adam stealing another agenda with no cards in hand the following turn.
Thanks to this deck and my Fisk deck, I managed to tie for King of Jank (points given to opponent's decks rating how janky/enjoyable/mind-blowing they were), and rather foolishly I went for glory of the combo by taking this deck against Apex. Unfortunately a lot of my ice either does net damage which it can prevent or says "End the run" so it was a grind and almost won on time only for Apex to choose 1 of the 3 out of the 4 agendas at the end that didn't need a psi game to steal. In related news, advancing Ice Wall to 12 strength is a viable out.
