Pre-rotation decklist |
Okay, it was the only Next Design but that's beside the point.
Figured I'd go out the same way I came in. I started playing Netrunner with C&C and used Noise and NEXT as my IDs for my first ever tournament at Leisure Games, which happened to be a regional. Noise has rotated so core set anarch, Reina, took his place and my corp definitely did better than my runner deck, though I can't really remember what won what.
To be fair, NEXT Design wasn't great then and it's not great now, however the deck doesn't feel unfair and with a quick start can be competitive, even against CVS/Zer0 decks.
The biggest drawback for NEXT is that you need to run 22-23 pieces of ice to make the most of the ability so have very little room for tricks. NEXT ice is okay (though Bronze being in rotation would help and obviously not including Opal). 1 Bryan is all there's influence spare for, so couldn't run multiples anyway but only being able to slot 1 Rashida Jaheem isn't great.
Jinja to rush out ice to score behind with a Batty protector is how the deck works, but with that in mind I'd swap 2 Architects for something else (Vikram or maybe gear checks with Guard or Rototurret).
The deck can get surprisingly close to a kill with brain damage, especially when the runner helps with a Stimhack and a Batty into NEXT Gold's X net damage subroutine is also a game ender once you've rezzed enough NEXT ice.
