DDDS v6

mcg 1077

As I was the advance scouting party for Worlds, heading out two weeks before, I was still far from settled on what decks to play. Instead, I grabbed as many likely candidates as I could fit in a box and jetted off.

After a few days of excellent escape rooms, I had a very chilled weekend to relax, see the sights and start thinking about Netrunner. I thought about the events in which I've done reasonably well, which seemed to have some commonality around runner. That being decks that have a strong Plan A which they build to and execute, rather than being multi-functional and responsive. In the past that has meant Apocalypse or Deep Data Mining. In the current card pool, the nearest approximation is probably Deep Dive. So I set about thinking about a Deep Dive Delivery System (DDDS).

Around this time, my soon to be airbnb-mate, Rotage, reached out on Slack. He said he'd spent all his time working on a Stealth Hayley list for eternal and was feeling uninspired on runners for standard. I pitched this idea as an alternative to "some form of Hoshiko". Dave said he liked it, but he just wanted to change the central idea of the deck. As our collaboration on The Outfit had gone so badly last year, we agreed working together this year could only go better.

v1 of the deck didn't even make it to being sleeved, as the breakers were deemed to expensive and clunky.

v2 saw one game played where the influence was completely reworked (who knew Telework Contract was 'better' than Liberated Account?) for yet another breaker suite.

v3 was the first release somewhat similar to the final product with a few flex spots to be decided.

v4 simplified some of the experimentation and settled for two Fermenters.

v5 will never been spoken of again.

v6 sacrificed one of the Fermenters in favour of a Hush and Contaminate.

On the day, Contaminate proved to be an extremely good include, winning me three games. Hush was never installed, as I failed to encounter any match ups where it would be relevant (unless you like playing "guess the Gatekeeper"). I'll call that a draw.

Thanks to Dave, Chris and others for testing and feedback. Thanks to the whole airbnb crew for their camaraderie. And thanks to everyone else for making Worlds possible.
