Took this to a store championship today and finished in 4th overall of about 55 people (3rd after 6 rounds of swiss, then cut to top 8). I only dropped one game with it during swiss (round 2, 6-7 loss to NEH, missed the winning agenda by one card on R&D), and then once in my second game of top 8 when I just got Ice Walled to death by Tennin and didn't have enough tokens to get in (plus losing every Caprice psi game on the scoring remote). It went 6-2 on the day altogether.

Overall I'm extremely happy with it. It's really pleasant to have a decent Replicating Perfection matchup where we can both just take a few turns and get setup. I think I'm going to make one change before the next store championship, that being dropping Feedback Filter and adding Snowball. I probably won't use it a ton, but it means I can't just get locked out with barriers, and also lets me be a little more liberal with using Scavenge for Imp and D4v1d.

Speaking of Imp and D4v1d, those two cards pulled so much weight. Tollbooths, Grims, and Wormholes were nothing for D4v1d, and Imp did serious work against fast advance and meat damage decks. Round 5 was against a Government Takeover kill deck and I trashed all 3 Scorched Earths and 2 Punitive Counterstrikes with it, just refreshing it with scavenge over and over.

The idea for it originally came from seeing all the drop decks people are playing out of criminal (most notable popularized by Nordrunner with his And4omeda list. I saw all of them and couldn't help but think the only reason to play it in criminal was for the slightly better opening hand in Andromeda, but I think Kate does just about everything else better in this type of build - better draw, better breakers, more utility cards, discount on hardware (R&D Interface for 1 credit off of The Supplier is great).

The Andromeda version is a fine list and it definitely does do some things that this one doesn't, but I'm really loving this one and think it deserves some more play. Please, feel free to post questions, comments, critiques, or anything else. I really love this list and if you see an improvement I've missed I'd definitely like to hear it.

edit - Oh, almost forgot! I was doing a lot of learning on the go with it today since I'm not very experienced with Imp and D4v1d, but the one rule I had that I stuck to was that my opening hand had to have The Supplier. If it didn't, I took a mulligan. If it did, I kept. Period. Sometimes it's hard to pass on a hand with decent econ and some utility, but I think having The Supplier down is just too key.

I've been thinking of a similar deck since seeing the criminal version (shaper at heart). I like your list, one thing that comes to mind is Hostage. Since it's the same influence and the supplier is unique. I was wondering if something like

  • 2 suppliers, +2 hostages
  • some card draw, +some of: pro-co, Kati, ...

The extra action and credit to play hostage might not be worthwhile since want to put into hand then on supplier for pro-co and Kati but I think it's worth considering to avoid dead suppliers past first. Thoughts?

I think he's safe to throw or even just hold the extras. I don't think anything else he wants on the Supplier is going to be worth having one of just for Hostage, and Earthrise or Diesel will find the right number of things that can be hosted with the rest of the clicks.

@sruman - I waffled a loooot about fitting in a Hostage before I settled on this list, and now that I've actually played it with Imp and D4v1d I definitely don't think I can do it. It would probably improve consistency just a little bit, but in the end I think it may give you yet another dead card like @AsteriskCGY said.

As for Kati, I don't think she's the right call for this deck. In the games where I felt like I struggled it was definitely more from clicks than from credits.

Oh, and having multiple suppliers can help if you manage to get yourself tagged and the first one gets trashed at a relatively early point in the game.

@weezeface Tried the deck last night, went well and I really enjoyed it. The changes I am thinking about but can't quite fit in are to put in 1x Levy AR Lab Access, 1 x Same Old Thing and 1 x Aesop's Pawnshop I'd take out 1 x Astrolabe, 1 x Feedback Filter and something else, not sur what else I'd take out. What are your thoughts on this?

@rotage - Levy AR Lab Access and Same Old Thing are two cards that I instinctively wanted to put into the deck after playing some versoin of prepaid Kate for so long, but when I forced myself to think about it you don't gain a whole lot from it. You just don't have that many cards to recycle. Most of your econ is a one-time setup sort of thing, and the deck doesn't have lots of run events or other tricks you want back other than Scavenge. I would like it if I could fit a couple Same Old Thing just for that, but I don't think there are slots for it. Given how many cards I draw, maybe dropping a Self-modifying Code for one? I'm unsure about it, but can see the appeal of those two cards.

As for Aesop's Pawnshop, I can see the uses but again I'm not sure if it's worth the slot. It would add some small amount of econ gain (you don't have a ton of targets), but in my experience econ wasn't an issue with the deck.

I definitely wouldn't cut Astrolabe. This deck has a very strong late-game due to the passive econ, and an early Astrolabe makes the rush and fast advance matchups much, much better. Honesltly, it even helps a good bit versus some glacier decks if they run asset econ. It's just too good not to have in my opinion.

I do, however, think that there is still a little wiggle room. The slot that is Feedback Filter in this list could swap to pretty much anything depending on what you need for your meta. I'm still unsure about it myself, as I said in the description. And like I mentioned above, you may be able to afford losing one of the Self-modifying Codes too.

@weezeface Yeah I think for me I always like some form of recursion in case things go wrong and I do face Jinteki: Personal Evolution enough times to need to factor that in. Because of this I may swap the Feedback Filter for Net Shield But the more I think about I think that Levy AR Lab Access, Aesop's Pawnshop and Same Old Thing is playing for a scenario that is unlikely to happen and will hamper the tempo of the deck

Another suggestion someone had was to put in a Test Run for a Self-modifying Code it would allow for recursion in case a program is trashed and if not would allow some extra uses of Imp or Cerberus "Lady" H1

I love the drop economy package and its flexibility. I played an Iain version of And4omeda and it pulled its weight at the last SC I went to. The only thing I wish I had was D4v1d.

I love the Imp. It's a great solution to many problems, and your Scavenges just work perfectly with them.

I don't know about losing the Feedback Filter, though. it definitely came in handy alot for me, since I had the money to feed into it. How often did you face net damage during the SC you played this?

As always, you never cease to amaze me. Keep up the great work!

@rotage - I think that Feedback Filter is strictly superior to Net Shield in the PE matchup. You'll have plenty of money with this deck, so there's no way they will kill you as long as you don't take more than 5 brain damage or keep a tag without Scorched Earth protection.

@Online - Thanks for the compliments! As for Feedback Filter, I've decided to try dropping a Self-modifying Code instead, and keeping Feedback Filter for now. I've found myself holding programs I wanted to install often enough that I think I can afford to lose one of them.
