Edward Kim Hates You.

Intro

There haven't been a lot of Ed Kim decks on here since he was spoiled, possibly because little differentiates him from the other Anarchs. I think Ed's strength is going to be in an archetype that's been declining for a while, but will see a bit of a resurgence once O&C drops: Tag-Me.

The main reason for this is Steelskin, which by its very existence will make flatline plays less threatening. A full hand containing a single Steelskin is enough to survive double Scorch, which means that corps will always have to wonder if they're throwing away their win condition when they go for it post-O&C.

Card Choices

Magnum Opus: Opus is incredibly underrated in Anarch; it singlehandedly fixes the econ issue without taking much deck space. Once in play, it powers all your Anarch tricks and threatens the corp by just sitting there. Which brings us to:

Earthrise Hotel/Steelskin: Because Anarchs have no way to tutor for Opus, you've gotta dig to get to it. I'm not certain that Duggar's is a bad choice here, but I'm a bit averse to discarding so many cards in one shot. Later in the game, Steelskins should stay in hand to protect you.

Vigil: The new Anarch console is essentially a memchip that, for one extra credit, doesn't cost influence and adds some more draw power to the deck. It also gets you enough memory for your whole lineup and provides Power Shutdown protection for Corroder. It's exactly what this deck wants for hardware.

The Breaker Suite: Eater is the star here, breaking practically anything at the efficiency of Corroder. Corroder and Mimic are primarily around for Wraparound and Swordsman, respectively, but they also save you time when you just want to break through a barrier/sentry to access a remote.

The Cutlery Suite: Pairing with Eater both thematically and mechanically, the cutlery events let you pay 1 or 2 extra credits to get rid of an ice permanently when you break it. In practice, this will probably be click-intensive but worth it.

John Masanori/Joshua B.: This is not a DLR deck, but DLR could fit in. I just don't think it's critical, so it doesn't get any deck slots here. However, John's draw and Josh's extra click are still incredible when you can effectively ignore their tagging drawbacks.

Account Siphon/Vamp/Wanton Destruction: All of the above is setup for Ed's assault on the central servers. With Eater giving you guaranteed access and Opus powering your economy, these cards let you put the corp down and keep them there.

Future Changes

This is just a proof of concept. It focuses too heavily on HQ and could use Keyhole for R&D (barring memory problems) or Quest Completed for remotes. Maybe even Retrieval Run or Singularity. It might even be best in a different ID, but I think Ed is a good choice thanks to his resistance to operation-based flatlines.

I hope this deck gets people thinking outside the box when deckbuilding.

I really like your deck. Good MU usage. Magnum Opus is great in Anarch. (I used to host it on Djinn back in the day)

Have you considered Planned Assault at all to help with Knifed/Forked/Spooned runs? You'd lose an Account Siphon doing so, but potentially draw into it easier with Planned Assault anyway.

Good build. I agree with @Snake Eyes that -1 Account Siphon / +1 Planned Assault will also save 2 influence.

@Snake Eyes @Him Not a bad idea. You could even take out a Forked for another Planned Assault.

I'm so glad I ran into this deck, because I'm running an Anarch tag me deck right now and found some great advice. I think the main issue with Tag-Me is the resource trashing. Earth rise is great here because it gets used up and goes away anyways, but Joshua and John tend to leave the board quickly.

Maybe some Yogs or Parasites to get through those Enigmas and cheap code gets that don't need to be spooned?

There also is some good HQ pressure, but no good R&D pressure. Probably Plascrete, or at least Imp if you are going tag me

Edward Kim: Humanity's Hammer is a self-motivated Imp against Scorched Earth and SEA Source/Midseason Replacements. Anything you'd want to kill with Imp Eddie's got covered for ya!

This is true, but what if you hit a Hedge or something and Scorch second? That's too bad. And over advanced Atlas doesn't care.

Well sure, but he's not running any multi-access anyway.

Steelskin = sneaky Plascrete Carapace.

I can see the value in having just one Plascrete Carapace in the deck though. When I did full on tag-me Anarch, I was using a full suite of 3 Plascrete Carapaces. Steelskin isn't quite as "safe" as Plascrete Carapace - but it's super difficult to predict for the corp.

I JUST ADORE .... how silly some of the things are ...1 Steelskin is enough to survive double Scorch? Do you know how Steelskin works?

15 Dec 2014 Snake Eyes

If your first Steelskin gets meat damaged out, you draw 3.

Assuming that you had a full hand of 5 - you're now at 4 cards, and are resistant to the 2nd Scorched Earth. There is a 20% chance that this will not work if Steelskin was the card leftover in your hand after Scorching.

@Dydra - do YOU know how Steelskin works?

@ADHiDef In dedicated DLR decks, generally some influence is set aside for Fall Guy in order to make trashing resources a losing battle for the corp. But the other half of the equation is the economic denial that makes it hard for the corp to find time to trash resources in the first place. You can have the latter (Vamp, Siphon, etc) without the former.

@slevin38 Yeah, parasite is probably a good addition. I just threw this deck together quickly. Actual playtesting would be able to tell us what can be cut and what should be added.

@Snake Eyes The rules reference the fact that cards trashed due to damage have an order. It'll require a ruling when the card actually comes out, but the way I read that is that Steelskin triggers immediately on trash, so even if it's the last card in your hand, it'll let you survive a Scorch.
