Breaking The Meta: Spark Assault!

Sidkah 284

Welcome to this riveting edition of Breaking the Meta! This week we will look at a personal favorite ID from the new Data and Destiny Deluxe Expansion coming out soon! Spark Agency: Worldswide Reach is my FAVE NBN ID as of right now! It is unreal as to how aggressive and economically dominating this corp can be! Let's break it in!

                                          The ID

Spark Agency: Worldswide Reach is an NBN ID with a 45/15 deck size/Inf status (pretty normal stat. But let's look at the ability: The first time each turn you rez an ADVERTISEMENT, the runner loses 1. That's Bonkers and I'll show you how later when I talk about the Ads.

                                     Agendas

If you look at the agenda spread, it looks like a pretty standard FA spread, but Breaking News is missing! In its place we see License Acquisition. This allows us to bring back an Asset or Upgrade from HQ or Archives. If someone trashed a SanSan City Grid or if our Adonis Campaign creds ran out, we can bring it back and rez it, ignoring all costs! A free SanSan City Grid is pretty sweet right? This can allows us 2 extra copies of SanSan City Grid or an extra copy of X Assets. Its a nice utility agenda.

                                    Assets

we got a lot of ads up in this corp that we wanna pummel into our customers! Adonis Campaign and giving everyone a new PAD with our PAD Campaign will allow us to get the money we deserve (in a way) from the people of SanSan.

                             Upgrades

Product Placement is a free rez AND can grab you some money for a run! its pretty sweet! Oh yeah, SanSan City Grid is in here cause NBN basically needs it.

                             ICE

Eli 1.0 is your taxing barrier ICE and Wraparound is here for any Eater decks or Faust decks swarming the fields.

Pop-up Window effectively makes the runner lose 2 (first run only) and grants you 1 back! What a swing that is! Tollbooth is there to troll your opponent and be your big taxing Code Gate.

Architect is your only sentry, but its ok because you can get your ADs out from your R&D, HQ, and/or Archives and rez it!

Special Offer is a lil Ad that could make the runner lose a money and have you net 4 back!

                         In Conclusion

So as I stated earlier, this ID has some neat tricks! On our turn we can rez a low cost Launch Campaignor even a relevant Product Placement lowers the runner's starting credits to 4, then in the first action window you get as the corp, rez another Advertisement to make them lower to 3. Also, if the runner only has 4 credits and is running on a server with an NAPD Contract in it, you can rez an Ad to make it so they can't steal it!

THAT IS BRUTAL!

And this is why I love this ID!

Don't forget to comment about what you think about this overlooked ID! Happy Spending!

Is not that good. Test it. Film critic kill the fantastic combo with napds, 1 credits is not that good and a scrubber, a paricia or a wizzard destroy your assets. And with 15 ices(3 are pop ups and 2 are 1 shot) you can't close your opponent out, often.

I think this is fantastic. Asset heavy NBN decks with Team Sponsorship are the jam, and this one trades the extra NEH momentum for ludicrous amounts of tax. Definitely sleeving this up with one or two card tweaks (Sweeps Week for Hedge Fund, at least one Cyberdex Virus Suite) when D&D drops next week.

It seems ok but runners seem to have no problem with credits these days and some of them don't even care once they have Faust out or they're running stealth rigs and they don't use many real credits for running. Losing at most two credits over the course of a runner/corp turn doesn't seem like it's going to shut runners off.

I guess where it's nice is if they encounter a piece of ice with just enough credits to break it and you rez an advertisement then they suddenly cant afford it. And yeah it's really nice to get them down to 3 credits to start the game if you manage to get enough advertisements in your opening hand. But there are plenty of ways for them to just keep making money. And with Sunny Lebeau: Security Specialist coming in the same pack and drawing so much attention already she's really not going to care about a possible two credit tax.

Thanks for posting deck and write-up. After some spark testing, I disagree with the other comments that the tax doesn't mean anything. It's not crippling by any means, but it does slow the runner down which is all a fast-advance based deck needs. I think it's akin to an argument that ETF's 1-credit a turn isn't really a big deal because runners can make money too (yes, I know ETF is better, but I think Spark is in the ballpark with right build). However, I see a ton of money being made in this deck but really nothing to do with all that money. I think you Ash or more big ice, to turn that money into an impediment for the runner. Also, with no cyberdex, clot is going to be a major problem.

@sruman That's something I forgot to comment on.

There's lots of money being made in this deck but what's it being spent on? There's no Midseason Replacements or other traces going on that you'd normally want a lot of cash for.

I played with Spark Agency recently, but its ability never ever felt significant. Just this once the runner could not access a remote due to missing a few credits, and I though "those credits he lost in the last turns were important", but then again if the runner simply loaded Kati one more time he would have been fine.

Product Placement proved especially underwhelming. Considering it doesn't work from Archives, the runner just trashes it as soon as he accesses it and then it's useless. Not worth recycling, not even worth including in the deck if you ask me... there's a lot more useful cards, like Cyberdex Virus Suite, which would protect your fast advance from Clot.

I do love the whole taxing idea, but I feel Spark Agency needs way more options, as in more Advertisment cards of course, but also other cards like Docklands Crackdown, but maybe more playable...
