Boom! Shake-Shake-Shake the Room

Plan A

Score agendas. Try to jam some early game behind ETR ICE.

Prioritise scoring a Breaking News or the Astro.

Plan B

Shutdown Combo into a double BOOM!

You should draw into this eventually, but it can’t always be relied on!

The “shutdown combo” involves having a Jackson Howard installed, a Breaking News scored & the runner having made a run last turn. You play Power Shutdown to place your entire deck in archives, then shuffle 3 cards in with Jackson Howard (24/7 News Cycle, BOOM!, BOOM!) and then play #Accelerated Diagnostics to play all 3 cards, ignoring their additional costs (so you don’t have to forfeit and agenda for 24/7 News Cycle or pay additional clicks for BOOM!)

If the Runner manages to lock down the kill combo with some crazy amounts of armour, you can swap the BOOM! in the combo for the exchange to swap the Breaking News for something (hopefully) game winning.

Plan Boring

Score a Breaking News and another Agenda (usually another 2/1), then (assuming the Runner hasn't put up any counters) in 1 turn play 24/7 News Cycle to trigger Breaking News, then play BOOM!.

Targeted Marketing

Hang on

The one area I wanted to talk about in detail was the 2 Targeted Marketing & 3 News Hound.

Rumor Mill completely shuts down Plan B, therefore you need ways to scrub Rumor Mill off the board. (A lot of runners play it as soon as they see Jackson Howard, so they might not even realise they are stopping a combo)

The ways to counter it are to score a 2/1 or to play Targeted Marketing to replace it.

Because we’re expecting Targeted Marketing or Rumor Mill to be present, I feel like News Hound is a fitting upgrade to Turnpike.

You can see a video of the deck in action here!

So I have found a pretty big flaw with this deck: New Angeles City Hall and Film Critic Combo.

If they set this up, it is basically impossible to kill them. Not sure how to get around that other than hatchet job?

@BENJI9520Import Elizabeth Mills and rez her to take out NACH

I know that, but there Isn't a lot of flex room in influence.

Character assassination could help with Critic plus NACH. You don't need Jackson installed in advance for the combo, do you?

If there's no Rumor Mill, Jackson can be in hand. Click 1: Install, Click 2: PS, clickless: use Jackson, Click 3: AD.

Hatchet Job does seem the natural counter, costing no influence, but sadly requires a credit lead. It also solves Guru Davinder and other random defensive cards.

@BENJI9520the problem with this trail of thought is that the best 2 runner decks, Andy sucker and temujin whizz don't play film critic and NACH combo, so what's the problem with maybe dropping 1 out of 50 games to some random deck.

Kate can easily slot NACH and Film Critic and have it at a moments notice, really. I mean really it is a meta call. But Kate is still really good and is the most likely to play the combo. So in reality, is it one out of 50 games or do you just lose to Kate?

What if the accelerated bring the cards in other order? first the booms then the 24/7?

@Windave you pick the order! You look at all 3 at once, then resolve however you like!

I also made the same error the first time I played the CI7 Combo deck.
