Unleashed Credits

I am quite new to Netrunner, so I am still trying to understand the game... This is my first own Weyland deck.

I really liked the starting advantage of GRNDL and tried my best to reduce the impact of the Bad reputation at the start. The Ireress looked like a good way around this, but I am not sure how effective it will be.

Hey there! I'm a die-hard Weyland fan, and GRNDL holds a special place in my heart, so I'll offer what advice I can. First, let's talk about economy. Triple Restructure is necessary in GRNDL. It helps keep your credit dominance, which is where this ID can really shine. For that matter, triple Hedge Fund is a must for virtually every Corp deck everywhere. Beanstalk Royalties is an option over Green Level Clearance, which will save you influence (as GRNDL's already limited in that department). I also like to run a 1-of Melange Mining Corp., just for burst economy if you have a strong server and are waiting for an agenda. Another key card for GRNDL (as the name suggests) is GRNDL Refinery. Behind some hefty ICE, this card can gain you 16+ credits in a couple turns, which is huge.

Second, I notice Vulcan Coverup is the only meat damage in the deck. Weyland is known, more than anything, for Scorched Earth, which is 99% of the time used in triplicate. With GRNDL's economy, running 1 or 2 SEA Source will often ensure you can tag the runner, allowing for Scorched Earth to either flatline them and win you the game, or clear out their hand. Combined with Punitive Counterstrike (also a mainstay Weyland card), this often results in a kill. This leads to an agenda that I'd recommend, The Cleaners. Once you've scored them, all your kill cards become much more frightening. GRNDL likes to be frightening. You also already use Shattered Remains, which is a good way to take out Plascrete Carapace, the main card that stands in the way of Weyland's kills.

Now, for draw power, here's where your other influence will come in. Daily Business Show and Jackson Howard are great for GRNDL, as they give it the acceleration to get things laid out while it stacks cash. You can also use Jackson to overdraw, discard agendas, then activate his other ability to shuffle them back into R&D, protecting them (if HQ is looking like it'll be breached). He also rescues agendas that were pitched with Power Shutdown.

Now, here's the thing about Bad Publicity...forget about it. One or two isn't going to impact your plans much, and beyond that, if you can establish your servers quickly enough, it will give you time to score some points and draw your kill components. In general, Weyland doesn't care about bad pub.

Moving on to agendas, the typical trend for GRNDL is to run mostly 3-pointers. Not only will this thin your agenda count, making it more difficult for runners to steal them with various tricks, but it will also maximize the impact of your counterattacks when they do steal from you. Some to consider include: High-Risk Investment, since it can give you a huge credit swing; Project Atlas, since it's just awesome in any Weyland build, and it searches out your kill cards; Hades Fragment, as it counteracts some of the more destructive runner cards; and Utopia Fragment, since it taxes the runner on future steals. You might also consider Posted Bounty as a way to get that tag. If you're feeling particularly ballsy, Government Takeover is very popular for GRNDL, since it means an instant kill with Punitive Counterstrike, provided it's the only agenda they've stolen. And if YOU manage to score it, it pretty much seals the runner's fate.

Finally, ICE. For the most part, your setup looks good. Once you disregard bad pub, you'll free up some spaces with Ireress. Overall, Rainbow, Wall of Static, Quandary, and Datapike aren't as useful as some of your other options. Replacements to consider: Ice Wall (cheap, can be advanced to boost strength, enough said); Wormhole (can copy other ICE, high-strength, good stuff); Taurus (blows up hardware); Nebula (trashes programs, can have cost lowered); Fire Wall (similar reasoning to Ice Wall); Changeling (can be transformed into a sentry, which can prove problematic for runners); and Orion (can be fun as a one-of, especially since GRNDL can afford it, and it's price can be reduced). Finally, Chimera is a fun little piece of ICE to use with GRNDL, as it's an ID that can afford to rez it a few times. Put this little guy out early game with an agenda behind it, and it allows you to score some points while the runner scrambles to get breakers out. Ideally, you want a Project Atlas with some extra advancements on it as early as possible. This means you can search kill cards any time. If you feel like running Snare!, it also means you can pop that into HQ in the middle of a run, potentially killing the runner, while leaving them with a tag if they're still alive.

I hope this helps, and best of luck to you in finding your way through the game :)

Wow! Thanks for the comment! There is definetly something useful in it for me :) I will need a few days and test sessions, but I can see some new options already. Thx a lot!

Not a problem! Welcome to the game, and don't hesitate to ask questions. I've found the community here to be phenomenal :)
