Surgical Sil

teky 83

A deck centered on exposure and running only with confirmed target.

Some tactics:

  • Siphon/Planned Assault when they are low on creds and you have an unrezzed remote with confirmed target.

  • Don't be afraid to use an early IJ on HQ and then expose the ice in there.

  • Wiretaps + Legwork are BFFs (Planned Assault can help here too).

  • Get Logos out ASAP and use it wisely to get the tool you need to perform the surgery :)

  • Recurring Grappling Hook + e3 could be a destructive combo! Pass any ice for 3 creds!

  • Overmind as a support, better played early, before you deploy your hooks. Great synergy with e3 to save Power Counters!

  • Prof Con + Logos to get the hand full of tricks and moneh!

  • Running on R&D is not recommended due to lack of pressure tools.

  • Charge Kati while the corp is not installing on remotes that you want to run.

Try to exploit the Identity! Every siphon comes with an expose! Every Legwork too! If running there is cheaper than Satellite uplink or SoT into an Infiltration GO FOR IT!

Information is power!

Wouldn't at least one more Overmind help out, seeing as there are 2 e3 Feedback Implants? Also, I understand the Clone Chips, but wouldn't at least 1 CyberSolutions Mem Chip work too for having all the breakers + Sneakdoor Beta and 1 Grappling Hook as well for versatility?

I could, of course, be grasping at straws here. :) I was just wondering, based on quick observations. I do like Professional Contacts, though...very interesting inclusion. I, myself, was mulling over a somewhat Resource-heavy Sil deck for the future. One last thing...perhaps -1 Executive Wiretaps, -1 Satellite Uplink and -1 Same Old Thing for +3 Special Order ... just in case?

Thanks for the feedback @esutter479 !

Let's go point by point:

  • Overmind: It's just there as a occasional support, if you get early drop it with 3 counters and then can use it with or without e3 and eventually with a Stimhack. Since you never are supposed to depend on it having just 1 is working just good so far.

  • The idea of the deck is not having a static full rig, so you won't usually have Sneakdoor plus breakers plus something else, you drop sneakdoor when you want to swing the pressure back and force the corp to ice up, of after using a wiretaps that confirmed agendas in hand. But it's not uncommon to use it for a couple of turns and eventually overwrite it with something else.

  • Pro Con is just there in case you get an early Logos but are struggling with econ of draw, so as soon as the corp scores you get him out and start the drawing plus cashing rampage. It's not completely necessary if you get kati earlier. Once again, he's proving being a good choice so far.

  • Wiretaps is the card I'm most unsure about... most of the times results just too expensive, but his synergy with Legwork is just awesome. After seeing one or 2 agendas out of 4 or 5 cards running with legwork can be devastating! And the idea is to use legwork when you can almost ensure a score.

  • Satellite uplink is there to use when HQ is too tight to get in and you need to see 2 cards (for example something in a remote and the innermost ice, when you plan on Inside Jobbing the outermost, I did this in a game today, it really works).

  • Same old things are essential here, you always need to have the chance to use again Infiltration, Sat Uplink, Levy, Siphon, Stimhack, Inside Job, Planned asault, Legwork, even Sure Gamble if you are in a tight spot. There are lots of really useful events in the deck, and all so different and versatile, so having 3 SoT is something I consider a must.

  • I'm not running Special Order because I usually have some way to work around almost anything. I have the breaker, or grappling, or overmind, or Deus Ex for APs, or Inside Job, or Planned assault for an Inside Job, or SoT for an Inside Job. And as a fail safe, dropping an early logos is essential so if the scoring remote is REALLY closed you can get the tool you need.

That's the way I've designed it, and it's proving pretty solid so far, but I got to tell you, it's not easy to pilot it until you learn all the tricks in there. You need to even know when to let the corp score an agenda just to use logos and counter attack then.

Thanks for your concerns and let me know if you have any more questions or feedback!

You know your stuff...very impressive! :)

I'll be honest, I'm not a great pilot of either corp OR runner...but I do know what I like as far as IDs go, and I LOVE Sil (and HB NEXT as corp). I've tried mostly Blackguard Sil, but I do think I'm going to go with Logos in the near future. I really like the way it allows you to get some econ going even if the corp is scoring semi-early...and then with free tutoring, you could really swing the momentum!

Recently, I received feedback from another poster on here about having 3 Faeries in the deck for what's no doubt likely to be an early Rototurret/Guard/Neural Katana/Komainu/Shadow ... you get the picture. :) I don't know if that's something you'd consider for your Sil deck, but it could help a bit.

Overmind is a card I haven't really made much use of; there are only 3 Trap ICE in the whole game at the moment, and against the people I play, they rarely (if ever) come out. So for me, generally, AI breakers are kinda moot. :-/ It doesn't hurt to be prepared though, so I may have to consider it as a staple in the future. I'm just not sure what I'd take out in favor of it, heh.

Has there ever been a time when you've been like "Crap! I coulda used a Femme on that darn ICE,"? I've been looking for ways to work her in to my decks too, and yah, I realize that for non-Shapers, she'd be pretty expensive to play (not to mention recur). Also, I noticed the lack of Garrote and/or Ninja...do Sentries ever give you problems in general, especially mid-late game?

This does seem like kind of a loose-fitting concept, with decent wiggle room, and that's a good thing. :) One last question...do you ever find yourself Infiltrating for credits?

Btw, I just posted my new fangled Sil deck, if you'd care to give it a look see...and hopefully some feedback on it. :) I'm really hopeful about this concept, and play-testing it should be fun in the coming weeks.

Thanks again for your comments @esutter479

  • I don't have a 3rd Faerie because I'm prioritizing the Grappling+e3 Combo, notice that, if I really need to, I can use that to pass roto, shadow and komainu, and Katana is not a big issue since it's being using less and less

  • Overmind is not here for the traps only (I confess it saved me yesterday :D) but for every other ICE that has low str and maybe single subroutines

  • Sometimes I cry for femme, mostly when the rez a Tollbooth, but if its the outermost ice i can always IJ it, remember that the idea is not to run often but to run sure.

  • So far I didn't feel the urge to have a non-disposable killer.

  • To this day I've never infiltrated for money :D

I'll check out your deck!

I quite like this the only thing am not too keen on is the lack of sustain able sentry breaker think that's more a personal thing tho, i can see this working.
