A fairly typical Jinteki: Replicating Perfection deck. Taxing ice, potential remote lockdown, and some drip econ.
Marcus Batty was added to mess with a fully set-up rig. There are several cards that combo with him to great effect: Cortex Lock (for an instant kill), Grim, Ichi 2.0, and Swordsman (if they have AI breakers.) Otherwise, he's a backup Caprice Nisei to end the run.
There are several reasons for Ichi 2.0 over Ichi 1.0. The main two are the increase to 5 strength (particularly vs an Atman) and the double-click requirement. If you put it on the remote, they have to run a central first click, and then run the remote to even have a prayer of clicking those routines. With Enhanced Login Protocol, it's impossible.

I've updated the deck now (there's a link in "Inspiration for".) There were a few changes: Ichi 2.0 (+ Interns) is now Ichi 1.0 + Rototurret. Swordsman is now Neural Katana. Yagura is now a 3rd Crick. With Marcus Batty, I don't need Ichi 2.0, just a trash routine, and I'm less concerned with Atman @ 4 with Grim and Rototurret. Swordsman wasn't doing anything, even in the AI matches, because they just assume I have it, and plop down Mimic and anything that can stop them doesn't need Swordsman. Meanwhile, Neural Katana opens up surprise kill with Batty. Crick is just completely amazing as a 3-str Code Gate that NEEDS to be broken, even better over Archives. I can completely understand how the economy looks bad, with only 11 cards devoted to economy. There have definitely been turns that I just clicked for credits. I'll keep your advice under consideration as I continue to play the deck. The important thing is to actually drop a piece of ice to protect the Sundew/Melange Mining Corp (if you're not putting melange in the scoring server). Just one Himitsu-Bako or Crick or Cortex Lock makes it much more costly for them to trash, and you can install another one back in its place. The updated version runs 19 ice, most of which are cheap to rez, so you can afford one on a secondary server. The Mental Health Clinics can usually be left out naked, but if necessary you can put one in the secondary remote. Out of all the ice, the Sentries are the expensive ones, and also the ones that you wait for the right moment, so you don't need to be rich to rez your everyday ice. 13 ice cost 3 or less. That being said, Whizzard: Master Gamer and Scrubber can both definitely hurt this deck. I'll be honest, I hate Celebrity Gifts. Information is my biggest advantage as a Corp, and I'm not giving that up for another Sure Gamble. It's only worthwhile if I already have a Jackson Howard to overdraw, but even then it's a double, so I can't have more than 8 cards in hand to choose from. Medical Research Fundraiser is playable only if you're not going for a taxing game (but I am.) If I were to add more economy, it would be PAD Campaigns. I tried Private Contracts, and it was too clunky. Even if used to capacity, you only net 4. Definitely no more Melange Mining Corps, since they're porous and situational, you have to plan it a few turns in advance. One is plenty. However, the only thing I can think of taking out is ICE. (Subliminal Messaging has been working well for me, around the strength of a Hedge Fund.) |
Sundew and Mental Health Clinic are typical auto-includes in this type of deck, but as they're a staple for giving the runner money they will run and trash them if they understand this deck's potential.
I hope your Melange Mining Corp. can hold out to give you money, because without Celebrity Gifts you might be struggling to maintain your money or pick yourself up from a bad round. Let me know how it goes on!
