Video: How Fire Burns in Space

When the Standard Balance Team announced that Tithonium would be banned when the Automata Initiative released, some said "RIP Jemison" while I said nah, Jemison is still cool lets burn trees in space and have fun with birds.

This deck and my Runner deck each went 3-4 in the 2023 EMEA Continentals, getting me 85th place out of 145 participants.

How New Cards Help Jemison

(1) Slash and Burn Agriculture: Another fast advance option for Project Atlas and SDS Drone Deployment. I'm using this as an alternative to Audacity.

(2) Ablative Barrier: Rez protecting Archives to reinstall Spin Doctor when your opponent tries to steal your expended Slash and Burn Agricultures.

(3) Tucana: A good companion for your Oberth Protocol to ice up centrals while scoring. It also rezzes the ice to counter Hermes.

(4) Tree Line: Gets Akhet to 3 advancements so it can't be Hippo'd.

(5) Armed Asset Protection: Decent credit gain considering the mix of card types here and the ability to get +2 from having a Slash and Burn Agriculture in Archives.

(6) Pivot: Grabs a Hostile Takeover or Standoff so you can fast advance it with Oberth Protocol or Slash and Burn Agriculture. This deck could possibly use other operations worth tutoring to make Pivot more versatile. Consider: Trojan Horse.

Why Divert Power?

This is the most situational card in the deck. I didn't use it at all during Continentals, but in testing it's occasionally done a few nice things:

(1) Derez Ablative Barrier on Archives so you can Spin get away with your next tree burning expedition.

(2) Rez Archer to fast advance an agenda.

(3) Rez ice without derezzing anything to tech against Hermes.

Continentals Highlights

(1) SDS Drone Deployment destroying a key fracter or AI secured wins.

(2) Using 2 Atlas counters to pull 2 Slash and Burn Agriculture to HQ to fast advance the third Slash and Burn Agriculture to win the game.

(3) The classic Jemison play of trashing a perfectly good Oberth Protocol to install+rez a new Oberth Protocol that fast advances the winning agenda.

(4) Getting stomped by Aumakua in a game where I couldn't find any Archers or Tucanas. Tucana should possibly be a 3x because it helps so much with building a turtle lock.

(5) Getting Clot locked turn 2 and Hush locked while also being agenda flooded, leading to 5 agendas being in HQ turn 8 and none of my ice being remotely taxing. Turns out Archer is the only taxing ice in this decklist if your opponent uses Hush. I should have probably installed an agenda unprotected with a Tucana this game just to get some more ice, but not being able to fast advance anything to then forfeit to Archer hurt. Mavirus is a decent tech option if Clot is popular in your meta.
