MoM Lat (4-2; 19th at Worlds 2024)

This year, many of the TAI Breakers opted for Swift Lat. Ruben Pieters is going to publish a comprehensive writeup, so I'm publishing this deck for posterity to record my particular brew.

My 18-month journey to top 20 at Worlds 2024 can be found in my corp writeup.

This is the 10th Swift Lat deck I tested in October. Swift is the core and the decks are just variations of the influence spend, breaker suite, and a couple influence cards. During testing, I called it "MoM Lat" because it came from a "meeting of minds" of the team debating Swift Lat influence points. And because the biggest decision was 2x Mystic Maemi, I liked having a name with two "M"s in it.

Here are some specific choices I made:

  • 2x Mystic Maemi -- This deck has 21 events that cost at least 1 credit so getting it down early was easily 8+ credits of value over the course of the game. Every game where I found a Maemi early felt really good. Seeing Maemi in the opening hand was almost always a keep, unless the rest of the hand was extremely clunky.

  • Pressure Spike over Cleaver -- In any fast matchup, Propeller is the first fracter that comes out anyway, as it can challenge an early Bran. Late game, Pressure Spike is slightly less efficient than Cleaver, but that's more than made up being able to slot the 2nd Maemi and find that earlier. In matchups with only small ice, I never needed anything besides Propeller and K2CP Turbine, anyway.

  • 2x Bahia Bands -- I chose these over Cuppelation because I found that yellow decks were giving me trouble and I found Cup dead in hand too often. Combined with Swift, Bands gives me a tempo positive way to kill must-trash assets, or clear a tag, while preserving real credits.

  • Burner -- I wish I had slots for more. It disrupts combos and can occasionally stack agendas on R&D for a Trick Shot.

  • 47 cards -- I wanted 2 Bands to use all my influence and I didn't want to cut Burner. Given that Bands usually will draw, I decided I could afford to go over and I rarely felt like I couldn't find the pieces to set up my rig.
