Reina Drain

neopium 1

Hi everyone,

This is my first deck publication and I'm looking for advice, please be indulgent :-).

So the idea of the deck is to drain the corporation as much as possible using Reina's ability with the help of Caïssa programs and viruses.

Emergency shutdown and Crescentus are here to force the corp to derez ICE that are already made expensive to rez with Reina Roja's abitily, Xanadu and Rook. Once they are out of money, you can trash their ICE with Forged Activation Orders on an ICE you just derezzed. Other means to trash ICE are Knight and Datasucker/Parasite.

Djinn helps you draw your viruses and Lamprey finishes the job in making the corpo poor.

Finally, you recurse all the viruses with Déjà Vu.

I have not playtested it yet, but I fear my main weaknesses will be:

  • Lack of draw

  • Economy

  • Virus purge will hurt

I was thinking about including Fester, but I'm not sure it's really worth it...

Anyway, advices are welcome, I will send further comments once I have tested it in real life :-)

I found my inspiration in the following card lists:

I am surprised that you are not running Sure Gamble. This would help you get your rig running quickly so that you can afford to use early pressure to keep the Emergency Shutdown and Forged Activation Orders doing work. In fact all the decks that inspired your card list are running 3x Sure Gamble. You do say economy might be an issue and the burst income of Sure Gamble might be enough to balance you out.

My next note is 2 unused influence. You do note that you don't have card draw, and your only tutoring looks to be Djinn for virus, which generally isn't a very powerful move especially if economy is an issue. You could take 2 Quality Times for big card draw, though they cost more creds. You could take 1 Professional Contacts or 1 Mr. Li. I guess alternately you could try Wyldside, but I'm not sure it would mesh properly, with Kati Jones taking up a click a round already.

Soooo, you gotta make room for these suggestions if you take them. That's a much harder part. Your Djinn suite for virus and Deja Vu recursion is already a pretty tight set. You could ditch 2 Xanadu and 1 Lamprey? 2 Bishop and 2 Djinn? I honestly don't know. Let me know how your econ feels, and well.. how it feels to have no card draw.

Hi and thanks for your suggestions.

If I don't have Sure Gamble, it's because I built this deck in real life. I have a few decks and I don't want to move my cards from one deck to the other all the time (nor to print them). I know it might feel strange, especially for people playing a lot online, but I really find it funnier to build decks with this additional constraint. It forces me not to have 3x Account Siphon in each runner deck, if you know what I mean...

Professional Contacts seems an interesting suggestion. It would both help with the draw and econ. But being able to include only one would not make a dramatic difference I fear.

The few games I played, I had no economy problem, drawing Kati Jones early each time, but I know I have been lucky. On the other hand, I spent a lot of clicks looking for my ICE breakers and Djinn...

Regarding the cards I could ditch, I was indeed thinking about the Caïssa cards. Bishop is nice for Mimic and Yog.0, especially if I only have one Datasucker, but I think both Bishop and Rook could be replaced. And in that case, Deep Red would be less relevant anymore.

In fact, I'm open to significant modifications in both the Caïssa programs and the breaker suite, my priority being taxing the corp as much as possible.

I dont play online... yet, but I do move my cards between decks, hahaha!

If you get rid of Rook, I feel like you lose the theme of the deck. On the other hand there are certainly times further in the game when Bishop and Rook can be dead cards. Maybe Ice Carver would be more useful than a few Bishop. Or in combination? Both are better than Scrubbed.

You could throw in a Clone Chip with that last 2 influence so you can do MORE Parasite shenanigans (or get back a Knight).

If you do less Caïssa, then you can swap Deep Red for 2 Grimoire fit in the 3rd Xanadu for consistency and use a Crypsis then take fewer icebreakers in general. I assume with Parasite recursion and Knight that you don't need your full breaker suite.

You could actually remove Forged Activation Orders to fit in the 3x Clone Chip or 3x Professional Contacts. Your Medium, Lamprey, and Nerve Agent (and possibly Keyhole) should be forcing them to rez and keeping them out of cash and if you want the ice destruction then Parasite recursion and Kraken can give it to you.

This is all just food for thought, hope it helps you steer your deck somewhere you want it to go!
