A Corporate Sales Team for Tempo (Top 16 at UK Nationals)

They can't Apocalypse you if you wipe their hand first!

T E M P O

Dead deck from a dead MWL for dead game.

So why am I so cheery? Well I went 6-1 with it at UK nationals 2018, making my very first cut at any event. It was nice to make it at the last official chance. It also went 4-1 in the President of Servers the day before. Highest placing Mti as well: Surveyor is a crutch.

Anyway on to the deck. I nicked the basis off @ryanbantwins regional winning list and played it a bunch in the run up to the Scottish regional. That list was a lot more robust to Clan Vengeance than the biotic version with actual 5/3s so I iterated on it a bit to arrive here.

For those who haven't played against it, this is a fun and fair tempo deck that tempo's a lot much like yon modern CtM does (shut up Seamus). Mti saves you clicks and protects your initial installs, then you score out some agendas with two card combos (Dealings + DBS/Moons/Rashida), all the while brutally efficient ice and annoying to deal with assets comprise the runners ability to check everything you put in a remote (either laterally or in the big remote). Since the tempo is the key you can beat Apocalypse even when it lands (sometimes - 3 wins to 2 losses vs Apoc decks between PoS and the main event) .

The main change from earlier versions stripping out any tech tools for additional tempo/current supremacy in Scarcity of Resources. Slowing down runners and turning off hacktivist was more important than shutting off cards they might not even draw. Ice changes were swapping Chiyashi for another DNA tracker and losing Komainu (it just accelerated Gnat CV too much in testing). Vanilla is just a neutral Economic Warfare, Crick is a good boi.

Fun things that happened:

  • Surprise DNA tracker knocking 2 Apoc's out of hand.

  • Killing with Philotic

  • Killing with surprise Anansi

  • Moons for 10 cards into installing 4 agendas at once, scoring one with the faith the runner can't get all 3 remaining the next turn.

All good things come to an end though and in the cut I lost to good boy Gnat (piloted by good boy Rob) in a real tight game where the only economy draw was a single MHC. Got to 6 points but a sad DBS getting 2 agendas meant Vengeance cleared my hand.

Cheers to everyone at Nationals - you are the best! (Yes you!)

NB: The President of Servers version had a cheeky Genetics Pavilion over Scarcity #3. Thanks @Jonny for suggesting the change when I was deciding between options the night before.
