In which Nasir brings out the heavy artillery.
After a lot of conversation and some good back-and-forth, I've come to realize that Nasir might actually be one of the best big rig runners in the game. So I've built this deck around the old big-rig adage: "Efficient breakers, and the rest of your deck for money." Corps dread that beefy Shaper econ, and have to build up to make sure they can deal with it by the mid-game, by the time it's usually kicking in. But Nasir's ability, when played with proper Workshop or SMC use, turns economy, rig-building, and runs into the same thing - the main thing the corp usually does to slow you down (rezzing ice) is now the one thing that makes your early game so strong.
That need to make sure your econ is online ASAP is why this deck runs 3x Magnum Opus, and 3x Daily Casts. These will get you flush with cash to dump into a Personal Workshop during your runs, or to pop an SMC and get your big breakers out before your credit pool resets - and that's if the corp chooses to rez in the first place. If you have either your Workshop or an SMC on the table, and start a run with a lot of money, the corp player is forced into a position where they know you can deal with whatever ice they rez, and then have to decide whether it's even worth it to give you the money.
I'm running a Torch instead of a Gordian Blade, because I'm looking to make this deck hit as hard as it possibly can, and you should hardly be strapped for cash with this load-out. Inti is in as a safeguard to deal with the low-strength barriers in a pinch, and I almost always like to drop it before my Morning Star to get the corp comfortable with plopping down low-to mid strength barriers. I can also the case for a Snowball, or even dropping a Parasite to free up the influence for a Corroder, but I like it as it is now.
I've freed up space in the deck for 3x Maker's Eyes and 3x R&D Interface for deep, game-winning R&D digs.
Imp is in as a one-off to help you get rid of any assets should hit a SanSan you can't afford to trash or an NAPD you don't have the money to score. The deck also runs 2x Scavenges to give Imp extra staying power.
I've also one-offed a Crescentus to add another layer of pressure on the corp. It's the Nasir equivalent of Vamp, and acts as a great SMC-able way to kick the corp when they're down.

Nice work with the big rig Nasir! I 2.0 of this deck is looking good. I agree big rig is the way to go: www.reddit.com One thing: breakers that retain their strength interact well with his ability as another place to dump money instead of PW. So Gordian and Battering Ram. Pipeline still sucks. |

I feel that 1of magnum opus and 2-of test run is more useful than 3-of magnum opus, and more flexible. I also feel that having a Same Old Thing to protect Levy from net-damage sniping is very important. Love the Imp, and think it brings a LOT to Nasir (Expensive assets? NAPD behind a Quandry? Fetal AI behind a paper wall? We're okay with all of these things!) |
Honestly, I think you're going overkill with the R&D attack cards. Dropping Maker's Eye would give you room of Test runs, which are so good with big breakers and PW. I'm running a similar rig and have Paintbrush as a 1x in there. Allows Torch to deal with big barriers, and Morning Star to deal with lots of subroutines on non-barriers.
