Titan • Space Train (Atlas Train)

Pyjam 523

I have played and refined this deck more than 100 times against Andromeda.

This is a rush deck using the ID's ability to score and chain the Project Atlas. The Atlas counters serve to search R&D for another Atlas or a Trick of Light (ToL).

You may also use Archived Memories to retrieve a ToL previously played.

If you manage to chain 3 Atlas, you easily win the game with a Hostile Takeover.

Supporting this strategy, you have a mix of binary (Ice Wall / Quandary) and very taxing "space" ices (Asteroid Belt / Wormhole / Nebula / Wendigo).

Thanks to the nature of these ices, you can rez them with very few credits (often 0 or 1 credit).

Install the space ices with no counter, the next turn you add 3 counters on one piece of ice. This makes the space ices indistinguishable from the binary ones when you install them.

Using 3 clicks and 3 credits for a discount of 9 credits on the rez cost is really great. It acts like if these ices have a built-in Melange Mining Corp. For this reason, this deck has a very good economy despite the lack of assets.

These ices are also imune to derez if you keep the counters on them. So you don't care if you're siphoned.

So, all you need to score an Atlas in these conditions is 2 credits + at least 2 counters on a piece of ice. Very easy.

I use to stack 7 counters on a single piece of ice. This gives me a reserve for 3 Trick of Light.

This reserve serves also to gain 7 credits with Commercialization.

In the best case, you are lucky enough to draw Atlas and ToL with regularity and the Runner is kind enough not to steal any Atlas.

Half of the time, it does not work so well. So, if possible, try to score an agenda early in a remote behind Chimera or a binary ice + Wendigo.

If you manage to overscore an Atlas with 5 advancement counters, it's perfect. That gives 3 agenda counters. Now, if the Runner fails to steal an Atlas from R&D you're unstoppable. Use 2 counters to tutor an Atlas + a ToL and score it. Do it again. Then tutor Hostile Takeover. Game over.

A perfect opening hand is Hedge Fund / Beanstalk Royalties + one binay ice on HQ + Asteroid Belt on R&D. Next turn, 3 counters on Asteroid Belt. Without Asteroid Belt, use Wormhole instead.

Obviously, Jackson Howard is an essential part of this deck. You use them to quickly draw an Atlas, a ToL, or an Archived Memories and to reshuffle all these useless agendas.

A note on the agenda composition : I don't really want to score a NAPD Contract unless I have a scoring opportunity very early in a remote. They're in the deck for their defensive value. If possible, it's better to score a Glenn Station. At least it can host an agenda.

There is no Mark Yale but, seriously, I don't want to sell the agenda counters. No Firmware Updates either. Hostile Takeover is better in this rush deck.

I have tried to include a Archer but each time I have rezzed it I have regretted to forfeit a Hostile Takeover for it, plus it has been derezzed, so...

The next version is here.

"These ices are also imune to derez if you keep the counters on them. So you don't care if you're siphoned."

Maybe not, but Leela Patel: Trained Pragmatist can still derez them and pop them back to your hand to ruin your day. :(

But this is the first peek I've had at this ID and the "spacey" Weyland ice and I think I'm in love with this Atlas/TOL idea. Have you considered Fast Track to pull up your first one quickly?

(I also think these ICE would work great out of Weyland Consortium: Because We Built It and probably make that ID way better.)

Thoughts on Fire Wall? One advancement makes it better than Asteroid Belt, although at 2 or 3, Asteroid Belt is probably better. Also, thoughts on Shipment from Kaguya over Beanstalk Royalties? Shipment is 2 clicks and 2 credits for 1 click and a card. The only downside is that you need 2 targets, but you have 12 advanceable ice.

I'm just wondering, why Archived Memories over Reclamation Order? In my ToL decks that I've tried, I like getting a lot of them back at a time, and I think that'd help. What do you think?

In Fast Advance decks, there are always back-up 3/2 agendas. What would you do if the runner grabs most of your Atlas in the beginning of the game.

@Whrrrrr : I haven't played against Leela yet but I asked my buddy to prepare something with her. I anticipate a very difficult match-up. I'll definitively not stack 7 counters on a piece of ice against Leela.

I have tried Fast Track but with little success. Each time it was like screaming “Hey Runner, it's time for Legwork”.

@Pushover : The previous version (here : netrunnerdb.com) used Fire Wall (and Builder).

Fire Wall is an awesome piece of ice. I predict a big success for it.

Unfortunately the previous version had big economic problems. It was difficult to rez a Fire Wall or a Changeling and it was horrible to fight once they were derezzed. Eventually I tried Asteroid Belt and it solved the problem. Also it changed how I play the deck, and I like it more now.

I have also tried Shipment from Kaguya (and Shipment from SanSan). They're not bad but they're rather useless if I draw them too late. I prefer to install a piece of ice then advance it thrice the next turn. It guarantees this piece will be rezzable when needed. It acts like a dedicated sealed vault.

Beanstalk Royalties is also more versatile. I prefer to have one in my starting hand or after a Siphon than a Shipment from Kaguya.

@Friff14 : A previous version used one Reclamation Order and it was not enough. Then I tried with 3 then 2 Archived Memories and I'm satisfied with 2.

Although there are probably some cases where 2 Reclamation Order is better. I should try that indeed. Thanks.

@saltytacopanda : The lack of another 3/2 agenda is indeed a big difficulty. I have lost my fair share of games by focusing only on trying to score the Atlas.

That led me to change my strategy and my deck accordingly. This is the reason for which I recommend to try scoring any agenda you draw in the early game in a remote server if possible.

It's often easier to do it sooner than later.

Supporting this strategy, the deck contains a pair of Chimera, and Ice Wall, Quandary, Wendigo to create a low cost remote server.

It is even a good idea not to ice HQ in the beginning just to keep the pieces of ice for a remote.

Only if I'm playing against a Shaper would I ever not ice HQ, and even then that's a massive decision point. Even if I have Beanstalk Royalties and Commercialization to help recover from an Account Siphon, there's no way I would ever let myself run into the Amped Up + Wanton Destruction combo.

This deck seems pretty powerful, and all of the testing you've done against Andromeda: Dispossessed Ristie seems to justify a lot of the changes and whatnot. Have you played the deck against any other identities, though? Not just Criminal, but Shapers or Anarchs?

@Halarith : I always ice HQ. Apart from Andromeda, I've played against Leela and it's really hard. I'm ready to take all the risks against her, as to install an Atlas behind a Wall of Paper on turn one, with no ice protecting HQ or R&D. It's risky but it really pays off when it works.

I see that people are adding hearts and stars for this deck instead of for the last version here. Thanks anyway.
