Imprecise Design - 3-1 (SSS) at NANPC Vancouver

Alcyon 4

This is 93.2% cone's Panic Precision with the remaining 6.8% being that I was afraid of having to make a decision about what to install with Architect Deployment Test and it seemed easier to score a 2/3 instead. This turned out to feel right as I twice pre-advanced a Vitruvius to get back things like a Rashida to reload after scoring, which would have an even better play if I'd thought to shuffle that card back into my hand first and not just tell my opponent I was installing the face-up card I got from Archives. Yep.

Also, the possibility of a Regolith clogging up my FA server felt conceptually wrong, so I thought it'd be cheeky to run a single NGO Front instead. Can't say it was intentional (or that I got anyone with it) but like I said, I did find myself greedily single advancing agendas so I could advance, Seamless, and install again for the Tranquility trigger on the next turn, so it was plausible for me to hang the NGO out there making it look like an agenda.

aksu was right and Vovô is your [Portuguese grand]daddy. It is very nice to present Gatekeeper and a Brân for 6 and then res Manegarm for free. One day I'll remember it can move servers too.

Finally I thought there might be a bunch of other Mulch players with Botulus (turned out, kinda not?) so I wanted to run a second Magnet, and I cut a Brân for it as I thought it might be nice to spend a little less money on the ice suite since I didn't want to cut Border Controls for YDL (and I told the architects we didn't have the budget for deployment tests.) This logic was also behind why I left my beloved MCA Mirrormorph jank in the deckbox this time around. In my heart I refuse to accept the fact that it's just worse PD. Greasing the Palms from Bridgeman's PD would be so good!

The format for NANPC Van was 8 rounds of single-sided Swiss with a cut to Top 8, and this deck slid underneath GhostMeat's Sebastião, Bilby's Maw/Turbine Hoshiko and Kysra's go-wide NBN, mostly going to time with a 1 point edge because I was hungover. That plus one win with maninthemoon's take on janktivist's Boomer Mulch against Malina's Azmari to put me at 4-0, a standing I did not deserve and I was deeply uncomfortable with as it meant I might run out of Tylenol and then have to play top cut.

Thankfully I had already had one pair-down and then Whiteblade and his Kit rolled me up and smoked me out of the feature match area, and then Gaurav's far more Precise Design and Podo installing Hydra at a steep discount helped me lose two more Loup games so PD could finish my last match strong against Clayton's Cataloguer Padma.

Not a very spicy decklist but I don't think I've ever published one before and I am a little proud to have caught the bubble at 9th of 32, though mostly ashamed since I do not have any non-purple ice suites memorized and had to read every single new card that got played. I can't even claim to be washed since that would imply I actually played Netrunner consistently/well at any one point. Sorry to everyone whose wins I stole.

Would I play this again? Honestly I am probably fated to do so the next time I audible into an event, but its matchup against our new lord and saviour Kit seems bad so I guess I should learn to play Ob. Look mom, two green decks at once.

Hype to Gaurav, hams, bmleep et al for a little tryharding going into NANPC so Seattle didn't pave us again, and to Sindarin, Solomir, Whiteblade and the NANPC crew who put the event together. Netrunner is still sci-fi MTG with excessive math, but the community spirit is just so much better. Whiteblade's made it clear I'll personally destroy everything we've built if I don't come out, so see you at pubrunner again soon. <3
