Oh look, just what I needed! Memory Folding Kate

fez_the_druid 7

This deck is one of my first Netrunner decks (!) and I would love some critique on this. It's been through a few iterations but this is where it is now.

Overall Plan: Build a "Big Rig" running archives or another non-threatening server with Patron to draw cards, discarding Out of the Ashes and drawing into either the icebreakers or Special Order to build the rig. The deck can sometimes struggle mid game when the decision to draw cards or MOpus for credits can be a tricky one but by late game, the deck has a plentiful economy with plenty of ways to pay for it's Icebreakers.

Economy: The Economy is mostly burst economy, making frequent use of the Kate discount. The only long term economy comes from the 3 Data Folding, this is easily enhanced by using the Cloud icebreakers.

It's a lovely idea - Omni-Drive is something we see too rarely. For a reason, probably, but hey, you still gotta try...

To be fair, I'm not sure if you should be using Sunny's Cloud breakers if you're not running extra link. I can't see Rabbit Hole in there, which really would be a must have in this kind of a deck. Well, obviously not, but really useful.

You could even drop Akamatsu in their favour.

You are running a limited card pool, right? ZU.13 Key Master and Creeper are something to consider as well, especially the codewolf.

Data Folding works that much better when you actually have that extra MU. And if you're planning on installing them on Omni-Drives, those breakers, something else entirely could work as well, not so influence intensive.

Try out Notoriety or even Apocalypse if you're running Out of the Ashes. But remember to pack Aesop's Pawnshop if you do.

You have an extra influence to spend, which could easily be Datasucker to further leverage to Elephant Lady (Patron).

Keep playing, it could just as well work! These are just some ideas for further streamlining and synergising.

The original list didn't run the Sunny ice, it ran Corroder and Ninja. So that meant the Omni-drives were that much more useful.. In that list I also ran Rabbit Hole. You guessed correctly I do have a limited card pool, I only own 3 of the 4 deluxe sets (neither me nor my fiancé plays Jinteki or Crims) and I have 2 of the Salette Island data packs. I recently bought Data and Destiny as I wanted to try the Cloud Ice it came with in this deck, in doing so I dropped Daily Casts and have noticed the deck is slower. I could probably go down to less Omni-drives. I really like the look of the codewolf and will definitely aim to pick up that! Next purchase on my list however is another starter set!

Because of the Cloud ice, I don't need to install them on Omni-drive do I?

Thanks for your comments!

You'll probably have better look with Self-modifying Code than with Special Order. With SMC you can run "blind" at most ice but still have access to your ice breakers if you need them. Alternatively there's the old Test Run and Scavenge combo. Scavenge works well with Femme Fatale because it lets you relocate her token in case the corp did something like trash the ice that you originally put the token on.

If you're struggling for draw in Shaper you're doing something wrong. Put in some Quality Time. With Clone Chip you don't have to worry about putting programs in the heap until you need them.

I don't see the need for Cyber-Cypher and Gordian Blade. Gordian is the better choice. They both break ice for the same cost and Gordian isn't stuck on one server.

If you're going to be using Cloak then I'd suggest dropping the GS Shrike M2 and replacing it with a Switchblade. Switchblade with two cloaks let you break pretty much every sentry in the game for no actual credits. If you want to stay in faction you could use Dagger instead.

Also I don't think you need as much MU in the deck as you're going for. You've 4 basic. 2 from your console and 2 from the Mem Chips. You get 3 free from the Omni-drives and provided your console is installed you're getting 2 breakers for 0 MU. I'd remove the Akamatsu Mem Chips and put at least one more The Toolbox since Toolbox is the only thing boosting your link, which is what makes your GS breakers 0 MU. Really you're only going to be spending MU on your Magnum and the cloaks, because you're going to want to ideally install Gordian and Femme on the Omni-drives.

Welcome to Netrunner! Fair warning: it's a beautiful game, but the learning curve is steep.

There's a bunch of stuff here that a more experienced/hivemind-linked player would do differently, but I'm just going to pick on a couple of points:

1/ Special order in shaper is madness! Self-modifying Code is a) better and b) influence free, especially since you've got memory spilling out of your ears with this deck.

2/Multi-access is a really big deal, especially in shaper (as they don't bring early pace or alternative forms of central pressure. Cards like The Maker's Eye, Legwork, The Interfaces, The Turning Wheel and Medium are bread and butter includes.

Bonus Observation 2b/ Cloak usually goes with the stealth breakers, although it might not be a terrible card in their absence.

Hope that's helpful

So seen As I apparently can't read/recognise common Netrunner symbols, this deck needs to change drastically. For some reason, I read the link symbols on the cloud ice as MU symbols... Silly silly Fez... Looks like I can go back to the old iteration!

Thanks @Greasythumb, sadly my access to some of those cards is limited. My fiancé also plays and I made the gentlemanly decision of letting her use Self-modifying Code and Medium for her Noise: Hacker Extraordinaire deck. This left me with Clone Chip as an instant install option with Special Order as a way to get them in hand in the first place... Maybe I need to have a conversation with my erstwhile fiancé...
