[Startup] Coffee Control (1st at Sinsen Round Robin 22)

Hamsan 7

... might sound cool, but is a massive clickbait. We're a minimal group of four players in Oslo, Norway, who have been playing on and off since the Flashpoint cycle. We recently purchased the full NISEI pool of cards and decided to play a Startup tournament.

Being only four players, we made it a double sided round robin format, resulting in three rounds of a total of six games each.

The deck went 2-1 on the day, beating Regenesis Restoring Humanity and Spiky PE, and losing to Assets Pravdivost. My corp deck was Cayambe Pravdivost, which also went 2-1.

The Deck

The deck is probably as greedy as they come. Somewhat of a doom rig situation, it is very easy to pressure your mark and get multiple accesses from a single run every turn. Running archives is great when you do it for free (or make real credits with Cezve + Bukhgalter) and get two or more accesses from HQ with Virtuoso and Docklands Pass / The Twinning.

Running an R&D mark for three accesses off The Twinning, and get two accesses from HQ from Virtuoso + Docklands Pass is quite a feeling. And it happens more often than you might think. Add Jailbreak for spice and get a dizzying six card access.

A rig like this really forces the corp to spread their ice on all servers, which is great for you.

But, as mentioned, it has a severe case of the greed. The Coffee is crucial, as the deck can struggle with econ for runs on remotes. If the corp goes wide, you're in trouble. Sometimes you won't have time to install everything, and knowing when to prioritize short term gains over long term inevitability and vice versa is a skill you have to hone. However, when it works it is empowering and a lot of fun.

Thank you!

Thanks a bunch to our dedicated and friendly playgroup, who has stuck with this game on our own for years. Hopefully, we'll continue for years to come. Cheers!

I'll never knock a small meta--getting four people together to play the best game ever is still hours of good times. When our group meets up, if we have four folks there, that's a whole evening of gaming.

Neat deck, too! I'm gonna take it for a spin.
