Make shop great again.

Smokestack 463

People have asked me. Is shop in trouble? I'm going to tell you right now. Shop is in trouble. But we're changing shop. What a crowd. Its great being here at Harpsichord Tower.

Shop is in serious trouble. We don't have victories anymore. We used to have victories, but we don't have them. When was the last time anybody saw us beating, let's say, anarchs and their faust? They kill us. I beat anarchs all the time. All the time.

When was the last time you saw us beating criminals? They siphon us, and what do we do? When was the last time you saw criminals float tags? It doesn't exist, folks. They beat us all the time.

How do we beat shapers? They are laughing at us. At our stupidity. They beat us economically. They are not our friend, believe me. But they are killing us economically.

Shop has become a dumping ground for everyone's problems.

ETF eats up large portions of the meta. Their game text makes them rich. Im in competition with them.

Our enemies are getting stronger, and people say, shop, as a deck, is getting weaker. They say our scorch package doesn't work.

We have a disaster called the big lie: MWL, The Most Wanted List.

I've seen my fellow shop players. They're all wonderful people. I like them. I like their decks. They want me to support them. They don't know how to bring it about. "Are you playing shop? Are you not playing shop? What do we do? How do we do it?"

Now our meta needs, our meta needs a truly great leader, and we need a truly great leader now. We need a leader that wrote "The Art of the Shop." We need a deck that will literally take shop and make it great again. We can do that.

I can tell you, some of the shop decks, they don't know what to do. Can they beat runners? I don't think so. This deck. I've taken it to three, yes, three store champs. People ask me, did you top eight? I can tell you, yes, I did top eight. Three times. People ask me, did you win a store champs? Yes. I can tell you I did.

So ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the shop deck that will make shop great again. It can happen. Shop has tremendous potential. And we are tremendous players.

This is the greatest shop deck that God has ever created. I tell you that. You get a lot of them that are overrated. They're not good. They think they are. They get good stories, because a runner got buffaloed. But they're not good.

So under Haarpsichord Studios, here's what will happen:

The runners will come back, I would say doing the same things they've always done. But it could be the new faust, or the new siphon. You know, they always want to be cool. And we'll say, sorry fellas, not interested.

Sadly, shop is dead. But if you play this deck you will bring it back. Bigger and better and stronger than ever before, and we will make shop great again.

Thank you, Thank you very much.

TLDR: Three top 4's at store champs. Won one of the store champs. This deck beats people often enough to do such. And it's a "shop" deck.

Yeah but will it win do much it will make my head spin? Will it win do much I will get sick of winning? I need to know that before I vote for you. For your deck I mean.

This has to be the best write up I've seen, regardless of whether the deck is top tier or not :D

I do not care if this decklists was 48 Data Hounds and 1 Troll; liked for the fantastic write up.

Your words. You have the best words.

This deck is gonna be 'yuge.

No profiteering makes me sad. All the money to tell those shapers. All the spare creds to lol at siphons. All the momentum to kill Anarchs fast and plascreteless.

7 Mar 2016 Smokestack

Believe me when I tell you. Shop makes money. They will run R&D. They will hit explode. They will take negative points. We will make money.

7 Mar 2016 Smokestack

Believe me when I tell you. Shop makes money. They will hit our explodes. They will take negative points. We will make money. Shop/Howard 2016. We are watching them 24/7. We will catch them before they are ready.

Our agendas are too good. We have predictive models. We have our pilot programs. They don't know what we have to offer is too good to be true.

Damn, I'm undefeated with this shop already. 6-0

What is a 'shop' deck?

8 Mar 2016 Badeesh

Heh. I'd drop the IOverload, 1 x Exploda and a Sure Gamble for 3 x Profiteering. Give it a whirl and tell me I'm wrong XD

@Gauss, "shop" has become some of the standard nomenclature (I'm trying to use a bigger word, I hope I did that right) for deck-names in Netrunner. I believe it started with using Personal Workshop and Stimhack in the so-called "StimShop" decks.

Then along came a corp deck called "Welcome to the Butchershop" (or something like that) that was primarily an NBN deck that killed you.

Anyway, now many decks end with -shop or -coats (Foodcoats now, but previously Redcoats).

There really ought to be a netrunner historian so we can look back at this stuff when we are all being sent back to the Clone Retirement Facilities.

Consequently, my favorite word that has been abducted/adopted by netrunner is "Meta." Now, along with the meaning of "current strategies being used" (and even "the game with-in the game"), it means "local play group."

Anyway....I want to see those Superior Cyberwalls. Build 'em high! Build 'em YUGE!

So why the News Teams? With the current state of the meta, providing free Artist Colony food is just ill advised IMO. You have enough protection built into the ID to avoid using those.

I play something similar, though I am all in on the Psychographics Project Beale as the secondary win condition rather than AstroScript Pilot Program FA. It's an ultra solid list, though Employee Strike makes you sad.

News team is still a good slow down mechanic in a deck where sometimes you want to feed them agendas, its also still viable against 2/3 of them meta, Crim's and anarchs have no strong answer. Profiteering is fine in a psycho shell, but I'd also have to cut Gutenberg and resistor as they'd be practically worthless against a runner with 3-6 bad pub on their side. There are positives and negatives to both versions.

Testing this a bit and having a hard time finding the econ to land a Midseasons, which makes Resistor and IO much worse. Any advice?

9 Mar 2016 Smokestack

Most of the times I only go for a midseasons by bare installing a explode while they are low on credits and advancing it once. If they are over me on credits I either bank credits if I have nothing else to do or push agendas out. scoring all 4 2/1s and banking extra agendas in archives along with news teams and quantums makes it so they cant steal enough agends on a single access to win and more than likely they will win me the game on an archives run.

Let’s dispel once and for all with this fiction that Smokestack doesn’t know what he’s doing, he knows exactly what he’s doing. Smokestack is undertaking a systematic effort to change this meta, to make Shop decks more like Fast Advance. That’s why he included SanSan City Grid and the Sweeps Week and AstroScript Pilot Program and the 24/7 News Cycle, it is a systematic effort to change NBN.

14 Mar 2016 MidgardSerpent

This writeup is amazing.

15 Mar 2016 ninjaiguana

Do you find the Information Overload does work? Have you ever been tempted to cut it for a second Gutenberg or a third Archangel? I ask because when I see it played, it seems to fall flat for the Corp.

15 Mar 2016 Smokestack

I like it over a second archangel. Its basically my back up sentry after tsg float happens. Data raven and gutenberg become pointless after a midseasons. And wrap becomes pointless after a fracter hits. Resistor and IO become better.

This write up is so gangsta it made my neighbourhood close its shutters at noon. 11/10!

This deck is nothing special, but this writeup definitely is. Kudos!

"What are we going to build?"
"CURTAIN WALL!" "Who's going to pay for it?"
"RUNNERS!" "Believe me, they are going to pay. They don't even know. They are going to pay those 14 credits."
