SPARK THE FIRE (16th at German Nats)

VirtualAnalogue 18

German Nats was pretty fucking cool. My first ever netrunner tournament. and I placed 16th out of 50! As a corp deck, I brought a slightly modified Shooting the Moon.

About the Deck

This is just tunos SPARK45 list (which i love) with Light the Fire! added on top. Thought that card could be helpful tech against Azmari Kill. Didn't encounter any at German Nats, so that's that.

The Tournament

Went 3-2-0 with this deck (2-2-0 with my corp) in Double Sided Swiss.

  • Round 1: Ran against rustryder piloting AgInf. Got myself redirected into an already rezzed Saisentan, Flatline through events.
  • Round 2: Another AgInf matchup against TwadaCZ. Here I had better momentum than the corp, managed an early steal and contestation of the remote, then we went to time.
  • Round 3: Against Alecthar piloting good old Precision Design. The details are hazy and I don't quite remember how I won. Must have accessed them agendas somehow.
  • Round 4: Running against wowarlock piloting Asa in a 2-4-1. Trashed some assets, got lucky with topdecking an Ikawah Project from R&D and later sabotaging agendas into unprotected archives and fishing them out before they could be recurred with Project Vitruvius.
  • Round 5: Match against J0N4LD piloting some scoring Ob. HQ was protected from Chastushka with a Crisium Grid, which is how I learned that Light the Fire! only works on remotes. Got rid of a Holo Man instead, which was quickly recovered using Ob shenanigans. I kept being on the backfoot here, and J0N4LD plainly outpaced me. I think I saw an SDS early before having any programs installed, that was a bad time.

How does Light the Fire help against Azmari Kill? It can trash all three cards Djupstad Grid The Holo Man Reeducation without touching the agenda, avoiding the Punitive Counterstrike fork.

I really like SPARK45 but I’m not putting up amazing results with it. Recently just lost to a Punitive Jinteki: Personal Evolution, and my overall tournament win record with this deck is 3-5.

What are some of your most common Labor Right targets?

@somefish Correct about the LtF-Azmari interaction. I didn't have to deal with Punitive Jinteki at Nats, so I can't really speak on how that matchup plays out beyond always hearing that you try to only self-core with the Marrow.

I use Labor Rights for recurring Ashen Epilogue if it got trashed accidentally, for Strike Fund / Steelskin Scarring, or sometimes the run econ events (Dirty Laundry, Raindrops Cut Stone). I could probably be more focused about it.
