Sable Theorycrafting Redux - Cybernetic Cymphony

Shishu 656

Since the release of Midnight Sun, I have been playing Swift Sable almost exclusively due to how ridiculously fun it is. On the heels of spoiler season, however, I'm intrigued by a new set of cards which I think constitutes a different archtype entirely.

The future of reg crim is here, folks.

Sable as an ID is pure tempo and therfore pure value, which is exactly what criminals need to get ahead of the game. No fancy tricks, no little rewards, and certainly not a boat.

Here's the thing about the downside of cybernetics: it doesn't have to be a downside. Steelskin is only 2 influence, and it works with core damage. It also gives us an excuse to play Simulchip, which synergizes nicely with Tapwrm PLUS allows us to slot the Clot.

The best part of playing Cybernetics, however, is our new shining star of a fracter: Tremolo

No longer do we have to shell out the influence for a more efficient Anarch breaker. I was thinking about Ghosttongue as one of the cybernetics (since we can mitigate the core damage with Caldera anyway), but then we couldn't play Pelangi to shred through spiky codegates and sentries. We also have enough Cybernetics in faction to turn it to 0 cost to break and redundancy costs no extra influence. Additionally, 47 feels like an acceptable number for a deck that self-damages, especially considering we have excellent power draw with The Class Act.

Now, I'm not sure if WAKE Implant v2A-JRJ is better than The Twinning on the whole, but it does have one of the best words you can find on any Netrunner card: whenever. Powering Twinning with Cezve does not allow you to charge it on the Corp's turn, so we're definitely getting more value than if we were running that style of multi-access.

The rest of the card choices are based on being a run heavy deck that should be taking advantage of our mark as much as possible:

With Corps now teching so heavily against Boats (and Boomerang being an unfortunate casualty), I think Criminal needs to be looking for in-faction solutions to gameplans. Being able to pressure both HQ and R&D with a single card is going to be BIG for reg crim, so we might as well build a deck that takes full advantage of upgrading our body for better running. B)

This list looks sweet! Good writeup too.

I like how outside of the box this decklist is. Is Asmund Pudlat a card you considered? Given that you have some strong targets for it.

@WatzlavI took out the Pelangi so idk. Asmund seems kind of slow to me, especially since I don't have any weapons.

Does the Simulchip+Clot package make sense without Pelangi? I'm trying this deck and they often feel like dead cards, but with 1x breakers some backup is needed. Not sure if this is the right way though.

@SashaI think there's a version of this deck that still uses Pelangi w/ Asmund, but unfortunately you're totally right about them being dead cards. I kept the Tapwrms but changed it to something more reasonable in terms of the breaker suite (+2 Unity, +1 Paperclip, +1 Bukghalter, -1 Cat's Cradle, -1 Aumakua) and went to 3 Steelskin as well. DreamNet is just easier to install than Zennit Chip as well.

Some day Crim will be able to clot lock....some day.
