Jammy Acme (24th at EACC)

While looking for a list that could have a decent matchup against Tap Lat, I found out that if you take a glacier list that is very bad against it and make it less glaciery, it can actually be very good. I also had a lot of practice playing Acme so I thought to try and make it work.

This list went 3-3 at EACC. All 3 wins were against Lat. Losses were Lat, Kikai's Boat Adam, and Hoshipko.

The gameplan for this list is:

  1. Get some decent asset economy (Rashida and maybe a couple of Quest turns; don't let it sit too long) behind an early facecheck.
  2. Thanks to your incredible ice, get an early score, possibly an Offworld Office.
  3. Once the Runner is set up, jam things in the remote as often as you can. Use Seamless Launch to quietly get to 4-5 points.
  4. Cheat the last agenda in by sneakily jamming it in or force it with Anoetic Void and/or Border Control.

This plan turns out to be very good against Lat, who doesn't actually drip hard enough to get into your remote repeatedly (for the same reason why NAC PD is good against it). It's not very good against stuff that can disrupt your remote, like a deck with Boat, Hippo and Botulus.

Hoshiko is a very bad matchup, but Boat Adam (which I didn't test against) is too, since Femme Fatale is incredibly good against you, Logic Bomb prevents you from getting those early points in and No Free Lunch seriously limits your ability to build good servers. Freedom is okay-ish, better than Hoshipko since it takes a while to set up and you can rush against it (in the tournament I scored Bellona-Bellona-3/2 by turn 8).

Overall I still think this list has a decent place in the meta, since two of my losses at EACC were by the Runner Stargating an agenda while I had the win in the remote. It may have to change some slots to address those problem matchups though.

Random thoughts on some slots:

  • 15 Minutes is actually not that good. You almost never score it and this deck gets fast enough that you actually want agendas you can score. Project Beale would have been better. Quantum Predictive Model should have been considered as well.
  • Market Forces didn't do anything all day but it was mostly there because with open decklists people just go tag-me otherwise. Sometimes you preadvance a Tomorrow's Headline and siphon people for fun.
  • Subliminal Messaging is not that good in a meta where all runners want to run every turn. I'm not sure there were much better econ options, though. Biased Reporting doesn't look that bad rn honestly.
  • Enigma feels kinda bad but you need those gearchecks. It really would like to be a Magnet if you had a spare influence.
  • Thimblerig is really important to have, but the better you become at understanding the deck and how to think in advance about how servers will grow the less you need it. I'm fine with 1 copy.

Cards that weren't included:

  • La Costa Grid was in the deck instead of Seamless for a long time but telegraphs plays too much. I want the Runner to always run my lone Spin Doctor and pay a million credits!
  • Attitude Adjustment is bad, this deck combats flood by jamming all the agendas, not by shuffling them in the Stargate pool. Also few Runners have an active interest in running HQ right now, so you can often sandbag as many agendas as you want by just putting a Data Ward on HQ.
  • I briefly tried Wave. It's good to always have your Wards ready but it doesn't do enough to justify being here.
  • Magnet is amazing and i'd probably cut a Border Control to include it if I could travel back in time.
  • Artificial Cryptocrash suucks. You don't want to score it when the Runner is too low, but you have to get those points asap. Its value is too conditional.
  • Hydra isn't worth the price without Send a Message. This isn't a glacier deck that sits on Daily Quest forever, it's a potentially rushy deck!

That's it. This deck had average results at the tournament but I think it could have easily gone like 5-1 if I had played more aggressively in a couple of games and had had better Stargate luck. Hope you have fun tinkering with it.
